The present disclosure relates, in general, to methods, systems, and apparatus for implementing a bib, and, in particular embodiments, to methods, systems, and apparatuses for implementing a bib configured to attach to a shoulder region of a user.
Conventional bibs are designed to wrap around a neck of a user and attach at a back of the neck of the user. Often infants, children, elderly adults, hospital patients, and/or the like fall asleep on their backs with a conventional bib wrapped around their necks. This presents a choking hazard for the infants, children, elderly adults, hospital patients, and/or the like. Child and patient safety experts advise removing bibs during sleep in order to avoid the choking hazard created by conventional bibs, but caretakers are often reluctant to remove conventional bibs during sleep to avoid disturbing and waking the infants, children, elderly patients, hospital patients, and/or the like.
Hence, there is a need for more robust and scalable solutions for implementing a bib, and, in particular embodiments, to methods, systems, and apparatuses for implementing a bib configured to attach to a shoulder region of a user.
A further understanding of the nature and advantages of particular embodiments may be realized by reference to the remaining portions of the specification and the drawings, in which like reference numerals are used to refer to similar components. In some instances, a sub-label is associated with a reference numeral to denote one of multiple similar components. When reference is made to a reference numeral without specification to an existing sub-label, it is intended to refer to all such multiple similar components.
Overview
Various embodiments provide tools and techniques for implementing a bib, and, in particular embodiments, to methods, systems, and apparatuses for implementing a bib configured to attach to a shoulder region of a user.
In various embodiments, a bib might include a body comprising a partial opening configured to fit under a chin of a user; a first attachment end connected to the body on a first side of the partial opening; a second attachment end connected to the body on a second side opposite the first side of the partial opening; a first fastener attached to the first attachment end and configured to attach to a first shoulder region of a garment of the user; and a second fastener attached to the second attachment end and configured to attach to a second shoulder region opposite the first shoulder region of the garment of the user.
By attaching the bib to the shoulder region(s) of the garment, several advantages may be realized. First, choking hazards of traditional bibs may be avoided because the attachment end(s) are not wrapping around the neck of a user of the bib. Second, a caretaker of the user is less likely to disturb the user of the bib when the caretaker is removing the bib. For example, if the user of the bib is asleep, the caretaker can easily detach the bib from the user without waking the user. Third, it is easier for a user of the bib to remove the bib. For example, instead of reaching around the user's neck to remove a traditional bib, the user of the bib merely needs to remove the bib from his or her shoulders. Fourth, a bib attached at a user's shoulder may have less material than a bib attached around a back of a user's neck and may be less costly and easier to manufacture. Fifth, by attaching the bib to a user's shoulders versus a front of a user's neck or front collar of a garment, a user is less likely to drop food, spit up, and/or the like on the one or more fastener(s) of the bib. Thus, a caretaker and/or user can avoid getting their hands messy when removing bib. Sixth, by attaching the bib to a user's shoulder the bib can cover more surface area and protect a larger surface area of a user's garment than a bib attached at a neck of the user. These and other aspects of the bib are described in greater detail with respect to the figures.

Second, a caretaker of the user is less likely to disturb the user of the bib 105 when the caretaker is removing the bib 105. For example, if the user of the bib 105 is asleep, the caretaker can easily detach the bib 105 from the user without waking the user. Third, it is easier for a user of the bib 105 to remove the bib 105. For example, instead of reaching around the user's neck to remove a traditional bib, the user of the bib 105 merely needs to remove the bib from his or her shoulders. Fourth, a bib attached at a user's shoulder may have less material than a bib attached around a back of a user's neck and may be less costly and easier to manufacture. Fifth, by attaching the bib 105 to a user's shoulders versus a front of a user's neck or front collar of a garment 110, a user is less likely to drop food, spit up, and/or the like on the one or more fastener(s) 135 and 140 of the bib 105. Thus, a caretaker and/or user can avoid getting their hands messy when removing bib 105. Sixth, by attaching the bib to a user's shoulder the bib can cover more surface area and protect a larger surface area of a user's garment than a bib attached at a neck of the user.
In some cases, the first fastener 135 may be a first button and the second fastener 140 may be a second button. The first button and the second button may be sewn onto bib 105. When the first fastener 135 is a first button and the second fastener 140 is a second button, the first attachment mechanism 155 may be a first buttonhole and the second attachment mechanism 160 may be a second buttonhole.
