Claims
- 1. An antibody preparation prepared from a mixture of antibodies and protein A, the preparation being made by contacting the mixture with an anion exchange material under conditions sufficient to adsorb both the antibodies and the protein A and then sequentially eluting the antibodies and protein A under conditions of increasing ionic strength, the preparation being substantially free of protein A.
- 2. The preparation of claim 1 wherein the amount of protein A is less than about 15 ng per mg of antibody.
- 3. The preparation of claim 2 wherein the amount of protein A is less than about 1 ng per mg of antibody.
- 4. The preparation of claim 1 wherein the antibody preparation comprises at least one type of monoclonal antibody.
- 5. The preparation of claim 1 wherein the antibody preparation comprises monoclonal antibodies to blood coagulation Factor VIII and the protein A content is less than about 15 ng per mg of the antibody.
- 6. The preparation of claim 5 wherein the protein A content is less than about 1 ng per mg of antibody.
