Claims
- 1. A composition for use in a container which builds up pressure when sealed and releases pressure when opened, the composition having a textured surface appearance, the composition comprising a volatile compound, the volatile compound being present in an amount effective to renew the textured surface appearance that is disturbed after each use of the composition provided the disturbed composition is maintained for a pre-determined period of time in the sealed container, wherein the volatile compound has a vapor pressure from about 20 mbar to about 500 mbar at 25 degrees C. and a boiling point from about 45 degrees C. to about 110 degrees C., wherein the volatile compound does not totally dissolve in either an oil phase or a water phase, wherein the composition has a viscosity from about 5,000 cps to about 2,500,000 cps and is an emulsion having the oil phase and the water phase.
- 2. The composition of claim 1, wherein the composition is an emulsion having an aqueous external phase.
- 3. The composition of claim 1, wherein the viscosity is about 50,000 cps to about 1,500,000 cps.
- 4. The composition of claim 1, wherein the viscosity is about 100,000 cps to about 1,000,000 cps.
- 5. The composition of claim 1, wherein the viscosity is about 250,000 cps to about 750,000 cps.
- 6. The composition of claim 1, wherein the viscosity is about 10,000 cps to about 200,000 cps.
- 7. The composition of claim 1, wherein the viscosity is about 35,000 cps to about 75,000 cps.
- 8. The composition of claim 1, wherein the container is a non-aerosol container having a removable and sealable cap effective to seal the container against escape of pressure.
- 9. The composition of claim 1, wherein the composition is maintained in the sealed container for a period of about 2 hours to about 24 hours after each use.
- 10. The composition of claim 8, wherein the container is a jar.
- 11. The composition of claim 8, wherein the container has an adjustable inner volume.
- 12. The composition of claim 1, wherein the composition is selected from the group consisting of a facial cream, a body cream, a facial mask, and a cleansing cream.
- 13. The composition of claim 1, wherein the volatile compound is at least partially fluorinated.
- 14. The composition of claim 1, wherein the volatile compound is a perfluorocarbon.
- 15. The composition of claim 1, wherein the volatile compound is a perfluoroalkylcycloalkane.
- 16. The composition of claim 1, wherein the volatile compound is perfluoromethylcyclohexane.
- 17. The composition of claim 1, wherein the volatile compound is a hydrofluoroether.
- 18. The composition of claim 17, wherein the hydrofluoroether is selected from the group consisting of methyl perfluorobutyl ether, methyl perfluoroisobutyl ether, ethyl perfluorobutyl ether, ethyl perfluoroisobutyl ether, and any combinations thereof.
- 19. The composition of claim 1, wherein the volatile compound is selected from the group consisting of perfluoromethylcyclohexane, perfluoromethylcyclopentane, perfluorodimethylcyclohexane, perfluorohexane, methyl perfluorobutyl ether, ethyl perfluorobutyl ether, perfluorodimethylcyclopentane, and any combinations thereof.
- 20. The composition of claim 1, wherein the volatile compound is a mixture of partially fluorinated and perfluorinated compounds.
- 21. The composition of claim 1, wherein the volatile compound is perfluorinated.
- 22. The composition of claim 1, wherein the volatile compound has a vapor pressure about 20 mbar to about 500 mbar at 25 degrees C.
- 23. The composition of claim 1, wherein the volatile compound has a vapor pressure about 100 mbar to about 300 mbar at 25 degrees C.
- 24. The composition of claim 1, wherein the volatile compound has a boiling point about 45 degrees C. to about 110 degrees C.
- 25. The composition of claim 1, wherein the volatile compound has a boiling point about 65 degrees C. to about 85 degrees C.
- 26. The composition of claim 1, wherein the volatile compound is present in an amount about 0.01 wt % to about 25 wt % by total weight of the composition.
- 27. The composition of claim 1, wherein the volatile compound is present in an amount about 0.1 wt % to about 3 wt % by total weight of the composition.
- 28. The composition of claim 1, wherein the volatile compound is present in an amount about 0.2 wt % to about 1 wt % by total weight of the composition.
- 29. The composition of claim 1, wherein the volatile compound is present in an amount about 0.25 wt % to less than 0.5 wt % by total weight of the composition.
- 30. The composition of claim 1, wherein said volatile compound is present in an amount about 1 wt % to about 15 wt % by total weight of the composition.
- 31. The composition of claim 1, wherein the volatile compound is present in an amount about 2.5 wt % to about 10 wt % by total weight of the composition.
- 32. A cream composition having a textured surface appearance in a container, the composition comprising about 0.01 wt % to about 25 wt % of a volatile fluorocarbon compound based on the total weight of the composition, the composition having a viscosity about 100,000 cps to about 1,000,000 cps, the composition being an emulsion having an oil phase and a water phase, the fluorocarbon compound having a vapor pressure about 20 mbar to about 500 mbar at 25 degrees C. and a boiling point from about 45 degrees C. to about 110 degrees C., wherein the volatile fluorocarbon compound does not totally dissolve in either the oil phase or the water phase, and wherein the textured surface appearance of the composition is self-renewed during a pre-determined period of time after each use of the composition.
- 33. The composition of claim 32, wherein the fluorocarbon compound is a hydrofluoroether.
- 34. The composition of claim 32, wherein the hydrofluoroether is present in an amount about 0.1 wt % to about 3 wt % by total weight of the composition.
- 35. The composition of claim 32, wherein the hydrofluoroether is present in an amount about 0.25 wt % to less than 0.5 wt % by total weight of the composition.
- 36. The composition of claim 32, wherein the container is a non-aerosol container having a removable and sealable cap effective to seal the container against escape of pressure.
- 37. The composition of claim 32, wherein the composition is maintained in the sealed container for a period of about 2 hours to about 24 hours after each use.
- 38. A system, comprising:
a container; a cap, the cap being sealable with and removable from the container; and a composition having a textured surface appearance and being situated within the container, the composition having a volatile compound in an amount effective to renew the textured surface appearance after the surface has been disturbed and after the container has been sealed against escape of pressure by the cap, the composition having a viscosity from about 5,000 cps to about 2,500,000 cps, the composition being an emulsion having an oil phase and a water phase, wherein the volatile compound has a vapor pressure about 20 mbar to about 500 mbar at 25 degrees C. and a boiling point from about 45 degrees C. to about 110 degrees C., and wherein the volatile compound does not totally dissolve in either the oil phase or the water phase.
- 39. A composition in a container that seals against escape of pressure from the container for a pre-determined period of time, the composition having a textured surface appearance, the composition comprising a volatile compound in an amount effective to renew the textured surface appearance after the surface has been disturbed and when the composition is maintained in the container during such predetermined period of time, the composition having a viscosity of about 5,000 cps to about 2,500,000 cps and being an aqueous emulsion, and wherein the volatile compound is selected from the group consisting of perfluoromethylcyclohexane, perfluoromethylcyclopentane, perfluorodimethylcyclohexane, perfluorohexane, ethyl perfluorobutyl ether, perfluorodimethylcyclopentane, methyl perfluorobutyl ether, methyl perfluoroisobutyl ether, ethyl perfluoroisobutyl ether, and any combinations thereof.
- 40. A method of imparting a self-renewing and self-leveling textured surface appearance to a composition after each use, the composition having at least one volatile compound with a vapor pressure from about 20 mbar to about 500 mbar at 25 degrees C. and a boiling point from about 45 degrees C. to about 110 degrees C., comprising:
providing the composition in an amount effective for enabling such self-renewing and self-leveling appearance in a non-aerosol container having a removably sealable cap effective to seal the composition against escape of pressure, and maintaining the composition in a capped state for a pre-determined period of time after each use to allow the composition to self-renew and self-level the textured surface appearance of the composition.
- 41. A method of leveling surface appearance of a cream composition after each use of the composition, the method comprising:
including in the composition a volatile compound having a vapor pressure from about 20 mbar to about 500 mbar and a boiling point from about 45 degrees C. to about 110 degrees C. and providing the composition with a viscosity from about 100,000 cps to about 1,000,000 cps; and situating the composition in a non-aerosol container having a removable and sealable cap that seals against escape of pressure for a pre-determined period of time after each use, wherein the surface appearance of the composition self-levels during such pre-determined period of time.
