Claims
- 1. A repair apparatus for repairing a vessel during a surgical procedure, said apparatus comprising:a housing; and at least one of a penetration apparatus for use in forming a treatment specific hole in a vessel and a visualization apparatus for viewing an interior of the vessel during the surgical procedure, wherein said housing includes a plurality of layers surrounding a central channel, said central channel is adapted for receiving at least one of said penetration apparatus and said visualization apparatus; and an articulation means, wherein said articulation means is capable of adjusting the angular orientation of at least one end of said repair apparatus.
- 2. The repair apparatus according to claim 1, wherein said housing further includes at least one lumen formed in one of said plurality of layers.
- 3. The repair apparatus according to claim 2, wherein said at least one lumen includes a plurality of lumen, wherein said plurality of lumen are radially disposed about said central channel.
- 4. The repair apparatus according to claim 3, wherein said plurality of lumen and said central channel are coaxial.
- 5. The repair apparatus according to claim 1, wherein said housing has a proximal end and a distal end.
- 6. The repair apparatus according to claim 5, further comprising:a distal end assembly located adjacent to said distal end of said housing, wherein said distal end assembly permits access of one of said at least one said penetration apparatus and said visualization apparatus to the vessel.
- 7. The repair apparatus according to claim 6, wherein said articulation means comprises:at least one articulation line for controlling the articulation of said distal end assembly, wherein said at least one articulation line extends from the distal end of said housing to said proximal end of said housing, said at least one articulation line is adapted to be connected to a repair controller, wherein manipulation of said at least one articulation line adjusts the angular orientation of the distal end assembly within the vessel.
- 8. The repair apparatus according to claim 7, wherein said housing further includes at least one lumen formed in one of said plurality layers, said at least one articulation line extending through said at least one lumen.
- 9. The repair apparatus according to claim 1, further comprising:a positioning assembly for positioning the repair apparatus within the vessel.
- 10. The repair apparatus according to claim 9, wherein said positioning assembly is located adjacent one end of said housing.
- 11. The repair apparatus according to claim 10, further comprising:control means for controlling the operation of said positioning assembly, wherein said control means extends through said housing.
- 12. The repair apparatus according to claim 11, wherein said positioning assembly includes an inflatable assembly.
- 13. The repair apparatus according to claim 12, wherein said control means includes inflation means for inflating said inflatable assembly.
- 14. The repair apparatus according to claim 13, wherein said inflation means comprising:at least one lumen extending through one of said plurality of layers; and an inflation port connected to said at least one lumen, said inflation port being located adjacent a proximal end of said housing.
- 15. The repair apparatus according to claim 1, wherein said plurality of layers includes at least a first layer surrounding said central channel and a wire braid layer.
- 16. The repair apparatus according to claim 15, wherein said plurality of layers further includes an outer layer, wherein said outer layer surrounds said wire braid layer.
- 17. The repair apparatus according to claim 16, wherein said plurality of layers further includes an extruded layer positioned between said first layer and said wire braid layer.
- 18. The repair apparatus according to claim 16, further comprising at least one lumen formed in said outer layer.
- 19. The repair apparatus according to claim 18, further comprising a guide line extending through one of said at least one lumen.
- 20. The repair apparatus according to claim 18, further comprising at least one articulation line extending through one of said at least one lumen.
- 21. The repair apparatus according to claim 1, wherein said penetration apparatus includes a laser.
- 22. The repair apparatus according to claim 21, wherein said penetration apparatus includes a low OH polyamide coated optical fiber.
- 23. The repair apparatus according to claim 22, wherein said laser is a holmium Yag laser.
- 24. The repair apparatus according to claim 1, wherein said penetration apparatus includes a piezoelectric penetrating catheter.
- 25. The repair apparatus according to claim 24, wherein said penetration apparatus includes a high frequency driven electro-cautery probe.
- 26. The repair apparatus according to claim 24, wherein said penetration apparatus includes a radio frequency driven electro-cautery probe.
