Claims
- 1. A repairable transformer comprising:
- (1) an annealed wound amorphous metal core having a core joint in a cut leg;
- (2) a coil over each leg that adjoins said cut leg;
- (3) porous material adhesively bonded to each leg that adjoins said cut leg and covering said core joint, edges of said cut leg and adjoining radii; where said porous material is not adhesively bonded to said core joint, said edges or to said adjoining radii, said porous material preventing any loose chips of core material from escaping said core joint; and
- (4) an outer layer which wraps said core and said porous material.
- 2. A repairable transformer according to claim 1 wherein outer layer is electrical grade steel.
- 3. A repairable transformer according to claim 1 wherein said core is rectangular, has a rectangular cross-section, and a coil is placed over each leg that adjoins said cut leg.
- 4. A repairable transformer according to claim 1, wherein said porous material is woven cotton cloth.
