Claims
- 1. A vulcanizable rubber composition having improved adhesion to metal, glass and textile fibers other than metal or glass comprising a vulcanizable rubber and distributed therethrough a resorcinol-filler composition consisting essentially of homogeneously distributed resorcinol and at least one carbon black, the amount of carbon black being 70 to 30% and the amount of resorcinol being 30 to 70%.
- 2. A composition according to claim 1 wherein the carbon black is a furnace black having a specific particle surface area measured by nitrogen adsorption of about 40 to 120 m.sup.2 /g, an average primary particle size determined electron microscopically of 20 to 45 nm and a dibutyl phlhalate adsorption of 45 to 130 ml/100 grams, said composition containing 30 to 70 parts by weight of carbon black and 70 to 30 parts by weight resorcinol based on 100 total parts by weight.
- 3. A composition according to claim 1 wherein the carbon black is a furnace black having a specific particle surface area measured by nitrogen adsorption of about 75 to 85 m.sup.2 /g, an average primary particle size determined electron microscopically of 24 to 30 nm and a dibutyl phthlate absorption of 75 to 110 ml/100 grams, said resorcinol-filler composition containing 50 parts by weight of carbon black and 50 parts by weight of resorcinol.
- 4. A vulcanizable rubber composition according to claim 1 wherein the resorcinol-filler composition is in the form of pellets or granulates.
- 5. A composition according to claim 4 wherein the carbon black is a furnace black having a specific particle surface area measured by nitrogen adsorption of about 40 to 120 m.sup.2 /g, an average primary particle size determined electron microscopically of 20 to 45 nm and a dibutyl phlhalate adsorption of 45 to 130 ml/100 grams, said composition containing 30 to 70 parts by weight of carbon black and 70 to 30 parts by weight resorcinol based on 100 total parts by weight.
- 6. A composition according to claim 4 wherein the carbon black is a furnace black having a specific particle surface area measured by nitrogen adsorption of about 75 to 85 m.sup.2 /g, an average primary particle size determined electron microscopically of 24 to 30 nm and a dibutyl phthlate absorption of 75 to 110 ml/100 grams, said resorcinol-filler composition containing 50 parts by weight of carbon black and 50 parts by weight of resorcinol.
- 7. A composition according to claim 6 wherein the rubber is natural rubber or a synthetic isoprene rubber.
- 8. An article of manufacture comprising a fiber which is a metal fiber, a glass fiber or textile fiber other than glass or metal fiber adhered to the vulcanizate of the composition of claim 1.
- 9. An article of manufacture comprising a fiber which is a metal fiber, a glass fiber or textile fiber other than glass or metal fiber adhered to the vulcanizate of the composition of claim 4.
- 10. An article of manufacture comprising a fiber which is a metal fiber, a glass fiber or textile fiber other than glass or metal fiber adhered to the vulcanizate of the composition of claim 2.
- 11. An article of manufacture comprising a fiber which is a metal fiber, a glass fiber or textile fiber other than glass or metal fiber adhered to the vulcanizate of the composition of claim 5.
- 12. An article of manufacture comprising a fiber which is a metal fiber, a glass fiber or textile fiber other than glass or metal fiber adhered to the vulcanizate of the composition of claim 3.
- 13. An article of manufacture comprising a fiber which is a metal fiber, a glass fiber or textile fiber other than glass or metal fiber adhered to the vulcanizate of the composition of claim 6.
- 14. An article of manufacture comprising a fiber which is a metal fiber, a glass fiber or textile fiber other than glass or metal fiber adhered to the vulcanizate of the composition of claim 7.
- 15. An article of manufacture comprising a steel cord adhered to the vulcanizate of a vulcanizable rubber composition according to claim 1.
- 16. An article of manufacture comprising a brass- or zinc-coated steel cord adhered to the vulcanizate of a vulcanizable rubber composition according to claim 1.
- 17. An article of manufacture comprising a fabric made of polyethylene glycol terephthalate adhered to the vulcanizate of a vulcanizable rubber composition according to claim 1.
- 18. An article of manufacture of claim 16 wherein the rubber in the vulcanizable rubber composition is at least one rubber selected from the group consisting of natural rubber an synthetic polyisoprene rubber.
- 19. An article of manufacture of claim 17 wherein the rubber in the vulcanizable rubber composition is at least one rubber selected from the group consisting of natural rubber and synthetic polyisoprene rubber.
