Claims
- 1. A retractable ironing board system comprising;
- (A) an ironing board comprising;
- i) a board of conventional construction with a generally flat end and having an upper and a lower surface;
- ii) a retractable support means to support the board pivotally mounted on the lower surface of the board for movement between an open position and a retracted position;
- (B) a tray of generally rectangular shape rotatably attached to the board positioned in spaced relationship therewith beneath the board and having an open end and a coupling end comprising;
- i) a plurality of raised rib means including a mounting shoulder means to provide a mount at the coupling end of the tray for pivotably mounting a clamping means to clamp the coupling end of the tray to the retractable support means of the ironing board;
- ii) a fixed hinge plate means to rotatably mount support arm means at the open end of the tray, the hinge plate means being securely attached at the open end of the tray;
- iii) a plurality of finger means extending outwardly from the coupling end of the tray in parallel relationship to pivotably cooperate with the clamping means to rotatably support the coupling end of the tray for movement of the tray between a retracted position immediately adjacent the lower surface of the board and an open position for storing a plurality of articles used for ironing located in a spaced relationship with the board.
- (C) the support arm means rotatably support the open end of the tray for movement of the tray between said retracted position immediately adjacent the lower surface of the board and said open position for storing articles located in spaced relationship beneath the board, the support arm means having a tray end and a board end each comprising;
- i) hingeable means for hingeably engaging the hinge plate;
- ii) an arch member having a distal end with retractable fastening means to engage the flat end of the board for pivotable movement of the arch member during movement of the tray between the retracted position and the open position;
- iii) a strut hingeably connected to the arch member by pin means for rotating the strut relative to the arch member;
- (D) the clamping means compressively engaging the retractable support means providing a quick disconnect therefrom and movement of the tray together with the retractable support means between the open position and the retracted position adjacent the board;
- (E) tab means extending from the clamping means having apertures for receiving a pivot means to connect the clamping means to the coupling end of the tray.
- 2. The retractable ironing board system of claim 1 wherein the retractable support means comprises a plurality of retractable legs.
- 3. The retractable ironing board system of claim 2 wherein the clamping means releasably attaches the coupling end of the tray to one of the legs of the ironing board, and has movement between an open disengaged position and a clamped engaged position.
- 4. The retractable ironing board system of claim 1 wherein the tray is constructed of resilient plastic material.
- 5. The retractable ironing board system of claim 1 wherein the tray is constructed of sheet metal material.
- 6. A work station attachment for an ironing board comprising a board and a support means comprising;
- (A) a tray of generally rectangular shape rotatably attached to the board positioned in spaced relationship therewith beneath the board and having an open end and a coupling end comprising;
- i) a plurality of raised rib means including a mounting shoulder means to provide a mount at the coupling end of the tray for a pivotaly mounted clamping means to clamp the coupling end of the tray to a leg of the ironing board;
- ii) a fixed hinge plate means to rotatably mount support arm means at the open end of the tray, the plate being securely attached at the open end of the tray;
- iii) a plurality of finger means extending outwardly from the coupling end of the tray in parallel relationship to pivotably cooperate with the clamping means to rotatably support the coupling end of the tray for movement of the tray between a retracted position immediately adjacent the board and an open position for storing articles located in a spaced relationship with the board;
- (C) the plurality of support arm means rotatably support the open end of the tray for movement of the tray between said retracted position immediately adjacent the board and said open position for storing articles located in spaced relationship beneath the board, the support arm means having a tray end and a board end each comprising;
- i) hingeable means for hingeably engaging the hinge plate;
- ii) an arch member having a distal end with fastening means adjacent the distal end to pivotally engage an end of the board, said fastening means including threaded means;
- iii) a strut hingeably connected to the arch member by pin means for rotating the strut relative to the arch member;
- (D) the clamping means pivotally connected to the tray having a quick disconnect clamp apparatus for mounting said tray on a leg for movement between the open position and the retracted position adjacent the board comprising;
- i) means for compressively urging said clamping means in compressive engagement with said leg.
- 7. The workstation attachment of claim 6 wherein the tray is provided with walls on three sides to contain articles placed on the tray.
- 8. The workstation attachment of claim 6, wherein the clamping means is rubber coated.
- 9. The workstation attachment of claim 6 wherein the support means and the tray lay flat against the board when in the retracted position.
