Claims
- 1. An apparatus for securing sheathing and structural members of a building comprising:
a. a unitary body having a first tab, an attached first right angle bend, an attached main slat, an attached second right angle bend, and an attached second tab; b. said main slat having a generally rectangular shape; c. said rectangular main slat having said first tab and said second tab attached to each short end; d. said first tab and said second tab generally bent parallel to each other by said right angle bends; e. said right angled bends having a generally vertical axis;
- 2. The apparatus of claim 1 wherein said first tab and said second tab having a generally flat surface and a plurality of nail holes as a means for attachment to the wide side of adjacent and parallel structural members.
- 3. The apparatus of claim 1 wherein said first tab and said second tab having a predetermined area and generally rounded edges as a means for easy placement as a retrofit on existing buildings and on new construction.
- 4. The apparatus of claim 1 wherein said main slat having a generally flat surface and one or more strengthening ribs as a means for preventing twisting and movement of attached structural members.
- 5. The apparatus of claim 1 wherein said first tab and said second tab having attaching means to adjacent structural members on an overhanging roof, with said main slat transverse to said structural members, as a means for preventing bending and twisting of said structural members during wind storms and seismic events.
- 6. An apparatus comprising a unitary body having a first tab, an attached right angled bend, an attached main slat, an attached right angled bend, and an attached second tab, attached to adjacent structural members of a roof, and a roof tab with one or more screw holes attached to the top of the main slat, as a means for attachment to the roof, thereby preventing twisting or lifting of the edge of a roof during strong winds.
