Claims
- 1. A cervical collar comprising:
a collar member; a chin strap member having a first arm attached to the collar member; and a fastening element coupled to a second arm of the chin strap member, the fastening element for attaching the second arm of the chin strap member to the collar member at a time of use, the fastening element including a pull cord member that pulls the fastening element into an aperture in the collar member to attach the second arm of the chin strap member to the collar member at the time of use.
- 2. The cervical collar according to claim 1, wherein the pull cord extends through the aperture in the collar member.
- 3. The cervical collar according to claim 2, wherein the pull cord is terminated with a grasping member for manually grasping the end of the pull cord.
- 4. The cervical collar according to claim 1, wherein the pull cord is terminated with a grasping member for manually grasping the end of the pull cord.
- 5. The cervical collar according to claim 1, wherein the collar and chin strap members are made from plastic sheet material having an antimicrobial additive.
- 6. The cervical collar according to claim 1, further comprising a pad element attached to an inner surface of the collar member.
- 7. The cervical collar according to claim 6, further comprising a pad element attached to an inner surface of the chin strap member.
- 8. The cervical collar according to claim 1, further comprising a pad element attached to an inner surface of the chin strap member.
- 9. The cervical collar according to claim 1, wherein the fastening element further includes a stud having a first end terminated with a head and a second end coupling the pull cord thereto.
- 10. The cervical collar according to claim 9, wherein the stud further includes a plurality of spaced apart, flexible gripping elements.
- 11. The cervical collar according to claim 10, wherein the stud includes a rigid lead-in element adjacent the second end thereof.
- 12. The cervical collar according to claim 9, wherein the stud includes a rigid lead-in element adjacent the second end thereof.
- 13. A reusable cervical collar comprising:
a collar member; and a chin strap member having a first arm attached to the collar member; wherein the collar and chin strap members are made from plastic sheet material having an antimicrobial additive.
- 14. The cervical collar according to claim 13, further comprising a pad element attached to an inner surface of the collar member.
- 15. The cervical collar according to claim 14, further comprising a pad element attached to an inner surface of the chin strap member.
- 16. The cervical collar according to claim 13, further comprising a pad element attached to an inner surface of the chin strap member.
- 17. The cervical collar according to claim 13, further comprising a fastening element coupled to a second arm of the chin strap member, the fastening element for attaching the second arm of the chin strap member to the collar member at a time of use.
- 18. The cervical collar according to claim 15, wherein the pad elements are made from a foam material having an antimicrobial additive.
- 19. The cervical collar according to claim 16, wherein the pad element is made from a foam material having an antimicrobial additive.
- 20. The cervical collar according to claim 16, wherein the fastening element is made from a plastic material having an antimicrobial additive.
- 21. The cervical collar according to claim 7, wherein the pad elements are made from a foam material having an antimicrobial additive.
- 22. The cervical collar according to claim 8, wherein the pad element is made from a foam material having an antimicrobial additive.
- 23. The cervical collar according to claim 1, wherein the fastening element is made from a plastic material having an antimicrobial additive.
- 24. The cervical collar according to claim 1, wherein the pull cord is detachable from the fastening element.
- 25. The cervical collar according to claim 24, wherein the pull cord is associated with a frangible area to facilitate detachment of the pull cord from the fastening element.
