Claims
- 1. A parallelepipedal storage container comprising at least first, second, and third sections, wherein the second and third sections are substantially identical and has a weakened portion to enable the section to fold to separate each second and third section into a half central base wall and one side wall which can be oriented at right angles to each other, wherein each side wall of the second and third sections has a free end opposite the end adjacent the base wall, wherein each half central base wall has a free edge, an opposing edge adjacent to the side wall, and two free side edges, wherein the opposing edge of the half base portions comprises lips that are complementary to each other, and wherein the second and third sections can be positioned with the half central base walls coplanar and with the respective free edges of the half central base walls abutting each other, wherein the storage container is formed by folding each of the second and third sections into an L shape, and mating the sections so that the side edges of the side walls of each section are disposed adjacent the side edges of the side walls of each adjacent section to form edges of the storage container; wherein after the container is formed, when the half central base walls of the second and third sections are coplanar the container is closed and when the half central base walls of the second and third sections are not coplanar the container is open; and means, formed integrally as one piece with the sections, for securing the sections together to form the container and for guiding the second section with respect to the third section during assembly of these sections.
- 2. The container of claim 1 wherein each lip is divided with part of the lip having a triangular rib and another part having a complementary triangular slot, wherein corresponding ribs mate with corresponding slots on respective opposing edges when the half base portions are mated to close the container.
- 3. A parallelepipedal storage container comprising four substantially identical sections, wherein each section has a weakened portion to enable the section to fold to separate each section into half central base wall and one side wall which can be oriented at right angles to each other, wherein each side wall has a free end opposite the end adjacent the base wall, wherein each half central base wall has a free edge, an opposing edge adjacent to the side wall, and two free side edges, and wherein two sections can be positioned with the half central base walls coplanar and with the respective free edges of the half central base walls abutting each other, wherein the storage container is formed by folding each of the sections into an L shape, and mating the sections so that the side edges of the side walls of each section are disposed adjacent the side edges of the side walls of the adjacent section to form edges of the storage container; wherein after the container is formed, when both pairs of two adjacent half central base walls of two sections are coplanar the container is closed and when two adjacent half central base walls of two sections are not coplanar the container is open; and means, formed integrally as one piece with the sections, for securing the sections together to form the container, and for guiding the sections with respect to the other sections during assembly.
- 4. The container of claim 3 wherein the two free side edges of each half central base wall have unequal lengths.
- 5. The container of claim 4 wherein the free edge of each half central base wall comprises two first portions substantially parallel to the opposing edge and a second portion angled from and connecting the first portions.
- 6. A storage container comprising four substantially identical sections, wherein the sections complementarily and matingly engage each other to form a completely closed container, wherein each section includes two wall portions and each section has a weakened portion to enable the section to fold between a configuration with the two wall portions substantially planar with each other and a configuration with the two wall portions substantially perpendicular to each other.
- 7. The container of claim 6 wherein the container is parallelepipedal.
- 8. The container of claim 7 wherein each section includes at least one complete wall and one portion of adjacent walls of the parallelepiped.
- 9. The container of claim 6 further comprising means, formed integrally as one piece with the sections, for securing the sections together along respective edges of the container walls to form the container and for guiding the second section with respect to the third section during assembly of these sections.
- 10. The container of claim 6 wherein each section includes a half central base wall and one side wall which can be oriented at right angles to each other, wherein each side wall has a free end opposite the end adjacent the base wall, wherein each half central base wall has a free edge, an opposing edge adjacent to the side wall, and two free side edges, and wherein two sections can be positioned with the half central base walls coplanar and with the respective free edges of the half central base walls abutting each other, wherein the storage container is formed by folding each of the sections into an L shape, and mating the sections so that the side edges of the side walls of each section are disposed adjacent the side edges of the side walls of the adjacent section to form edges of the storage container; wherein after the container is formed, when both pairs of two adjacent half central base walls of two sections are coplanar the container is closed and when two adjacent half central base walls of two sections are not coplanar the container is open.
- 11. A section for use in forming a parallelepipedal storage container comprising four substantially identical sections wherein the section has a weakened portion to enable the section to fold into a half central base wall and one side wall which can be oriented at right angles to each other, wherein each side wall of the section has a free end opposite the end adjacent the half central base wall, wherein each half central base wall has a free edge, an opposing edge adjacent to the side wall, and two free side edges, and wherein two sections can be positioned with the half central base walls coplanar and with the respective free edges of the half central base walls abutting each other to form a U shape, wherein the storage container is formed by folding the section into an L shape, mating a first two sections with each other to form a complete base wall, and mating two other sections with the first two sections so that the side edges of the side walls of the two other sections are disposed adjacent the side edges of the side walls of the first two sections to form edges of the storage container; wherein after the container is formed, when the half central base walls of two sections which form a complete base wall are coplanar the container is closed and when the half central base walls of two sections which form a complete base wall are not coplanar the container is open, such that the half central base walls of the sections form the cover of the container; and means, formed integrally as one piece with the section, for securing the four sections together to form the container and for guiding the sections with respect to each other during assembly of these sections.
