Claims
- 1. A separation connector assembly comprising:a first connector device comprising a plurality of leaf elements, each leaf element of the plurality of leaf elements having a leaf lip that includes a first mating surface, a second connector device comprising a receiving surface having a second mating surface substantially corresponding to an inverse of the first mating surface for receiving each leaf lip of the plurality of leaf elements, a band that is configured to form a perimeter corresponding to the plurality of leaf elements, and is further configured to urge each leaf lip into the receiving surface, via at least one of a tensioning and an expansion of a circumference of the band, thereby facilitating a coupling of the first connector device to the second connector device, wherein: the plurality of leaf elements are arranged on the first connector device as discrete segments of leaf elements that form a perimeter corresponding to the receiving surface of the second connector device.
- 2. A separation connector assembly comprising:a first connector device comprising a plurality of leaf elements, each leaf element of the plurality of leaf elements having a leaf lip that includes a first mating surface, a second connector device comprising a receiving surface having a second mating surface substantially corresponding to an inverse of the first mating surface for receiving each leaf lip of the plurality of leaf elements, a band that is configured to form a perimeter corresponding to the plurality of leaf elements, and is further configured to urge each leaf lip into the receiving surface, via at least one of a tensioning and an expansion of a circumference of the band, thereby facilitating a coupling of the first connector device to the second connector device, wherein: the first and second mating surfaces include a shearing structure that is configured to minimize a lateral movement of the plurality of leaf elements relative to the receiving surface when the first connector device is coupled to the second connector device.
- 3. A leaf element of a connector device comprisinga leaf lip that includes a first mating surface that is configured to conform to an inverse of a second mating surface on a receiving connector device, a base element that is configured to facilitate mounting the leaf lip to a mounting surface, and a connecting segment that couples the leaf lip to the base element and is configured to allow movement of the leaf lip relative to the base element to facilitate mating of the first mating surface to the second mating surface, wherein the leaf lip further includes a groove that is configured to receive a band element that effects the mating of the first mating surface to the second mating surface.
- 4. The leaf element of claim 3, whereinthe connecting segment allows the movement of the leaf lip relative to the base element via a deformation of the connecting segment.
- 5. The leaf element of claim 3, whereinthe connecting segment includes a hinge that allows the movement of the leaf lip relative to the base element.
- 6. The leaf element of claim 3, whereinthe leaf lip further includes a shear element that is configured to limit a lateral movement of the leaf lip relative to the receiving connector device.
- 7. The leaf element of claim 6, whereinthe lateral movement of the leaf lip relative to the receiving device is limited by a shear pin and a corresponding shear groove that is configured to receive the shear pin, and the shear element of the leaf lip includes one of: the shear pin and the shear groove.
- 8. The leaf element of claim 3, whereinthe leaf element is comprised of an aluminum alloy.
- 9. The leaf element of claim 3, whereinthe first and second mating surfaces include a protrusion and a corresponding recess.
- 10. The leaf element of claim 3, whereinthe leaf lip further includes one or more cuts that facilitate a deformation of the leaf lip to conform to the receiving connecting device.
- 11. The leaf element of claim 3, whereinthe base element is shaped to facilitate formation of a perimeter of leaf elements when mounted to the mounting surface with other leaf elements.
- 12. The leaf element of claim 3, whereinthe leaf lip is one of a plurality of leaf lips that are coupled to the base element.
