Claims
- 1. A reverse rotation preventive device for selectively preventing a reverse rotation of a fishing reel rotor member rotatably supported on a fishing reel main body, comprising:
- a brake unit mounted between said rotor member and said reel main body, said brake unit including:
- at least one rolling member;
- an annular holder having a guide recess for accommodating and supporting said at least one rolling member between two opposing sidewalls extending radially on opposite sides of said at least one rolling member along an axial direction;
- first positioning means for biasing said at least one rolling member toward a first position where said at least one rolling member is permitted to perform a wedge action on said rotor member wherein said rotor member is permitted to rotate in a first direction and prevented from rotating in a second direction opposite to said first direction; and
- second positioning means for moving said at least one rolling member, against a biasing force of said first positioning means, toward a second position where said at least one rolling member is prevented from performing said wedge action wherein said rotor member is permitted to rotate in both said directions,
- wherein said second positioning means comprises an annular ring formed with at least one engagement projection extending in an axial direction to engage said at least one rolling member, said annular ring being rotatable relative to said two opposing sidewalls of annular holder.
- 2. The reverse rotation preventive device according to claim 1, wherein said annular holder is adapted to be non-rotatably mounted onto said reel main body.
- 3. The reverse rotation preventive device according to claim 1, wherein said rolling member in said first position performs said wedge action between said rotor member and said annular holder.
- 4. The reverse rotation preventive device according to claim 1, wherein said brake unit further includes: an annular outer frame coupled to said annular holder and adapted to be non-rotatably mounted onto said reel main body.
- 5. The reverse rotation preventive device according to claim 4, therein said guide recess has a first opening for permitting said rolling member to contact with said first member and a second opening opposite to said rotor opening for permitting said rolling member to contact with said annular outer frame.
- 6. The reverse rotation preventive device according to claim 5, wherein said rolling member in said first position performs said wedge action between said rotor member and said annular outer frame.
- 7. The reverse rotation preventive device according to claim 5, wherein said first opening has such a dimension as to prevent said rolling member from falling off from said annular holder therethrough.
- 8. The reverse rotation preventive device according to claim 5, wherein said annular outer frame prevents said rolling member from falling off from said annular holder through said second opening when said annular outer frame is coupled to said annular holder.
- 9. The reverse rotation preventive device according to claim 4, wherein said annular holder is rotatable relative to said annular outer frame.
- 10. The reverse rotation preventive device according to claim 9, wherein said second positioning means is fixed to said annular holder to rotate said annular holder relative to said annular outer frame to thereby move said rolling member toward said second position.
- 11. The reverse rotation preventive device according to claim 1, wherein said first positioning means also functions to retain said rolling member in said guide recess.
- 12. The reverse rotation preventive device according to claim 1, wherein said two opposing sidewalls, said annular ring and said at least one rolling member are aligned along said axial direction.
- 13. The reverse rotation preventive device according to claim 1, wherein said annular ring lies adjacent one of said two opposing sidewalls.
- 14. The reverse rotation preventive device according to claim 1, wherein said annular holder comprising a main holder and an outer frame member which respectively define said two opposing sidewalls.
- 15. The reverse rotation preventive device according to claim 1, wherein said two opposing sidewalls are separately formed elements.
- 16. The reverse rotation preventive device according to claim 1, wherein said annular ring abuts one of said two opposing sidewalls.
