Claims
- 1. A camera comprising:
a body; a capture system mounted in said body, said capture system defining a photographic scene; an evaluator assessing a plurality of parameters for capture of said scene; a look-up table matching said parameters to one or more of a plurality of editorial suggestions to define a suggestion set; and a display unit selectively actuable to show depictions of said one or more editorial suggestions of said suggestion set.
- 2. The camera of claim 1 wherein said capture system includes an electronic imager capturing an electronic image inclusive of said scene, said imager being operatively connected to said display unit, wherein said depictions are modifications of said electronic image.
- 3. The camera of claim 2 wherein said electronic image extends beyond said scene and at least one of said depictions is only partially inclusive of said scene.
- 4. The camera of claim 2 wherein said capture system includes a film image capture unit capturing a latent film image corresponding to said scene.
- 5. A camera comprising:
a body; a viewfinder mounted in said body, said viewfinder delineating a scene; an electronic imager disposed in said body, said imager capturing an electronic image inclusive of said scene; an evaluator assessing one or more parameters of at least one of said scene and said electronic image to provide an assessment; a look-up table matching said assessment to one or more of a plurality of editorial suggestions to define a suggestion set.
- 6. The camera of claim 5 further comprising a display unit actuable to show said one or more editorial suggestions of said suggestion set.
- 7. The camera of claim 5 wherein said evaluator includes a multiple element rangefinder and one of said parameters is the position within said electronic image, of a photographic subject detected by said rangefinder.
- 8. The camera of claim 7 wherein at least one of said editorial suggestions is reaiming said imager relative to said photographic subject.
- 9. The camera of claim 7 wherein at least one of said editorial suggestions is changing a taking lens focal length.
- 10. The camera of claim 5 further comprising:
a designator selectively settable in one of a plurality of settings to select one said editorial suggestions of said suggestion set as a selected suggestion; a controller operatively connected to said designator, said controller generating a depiction of said selected suggestion; and a display operatively connected to said controller, said display showing said depiction.
- 11. The camera of claim 10 wherein said controller is operatively connected to said electronic capture unit, and said depiction is a combination of said electronic image and said selected suggestion.
- 12. The camera of claim 10 wherein said controller is operatively connected to said electronic capture unit, and said depiction is a modification of said electronic image in accordance with said selected suggestion.
- 13. The camera of claim 10 wherein said designator is switchable among said settings to selectively show said electronic image and a respective said depiction of each of said editorial suggestions.
- 14. The camera of claim 5 further comprising a film image capture unit disposed in said body, said film image capture unit capturing a latent film image corresponding to said scene.
- 15. The camera of claim 14 wherein said latent film image corresponds to a central part of said electronic image.
- 16. The camera of claim 5 wherein said evaluator includes a light meter, which determines the intensity of light reflected from at least one part of said scene.
- 17. The camera of claim 5 wherein said evaluator includes a rangefinder, which determines the distance to a photographic subject in said scene.
- 18. The camera of claim 5 wherein said evaluator includes an orientation sensor, which determines the orientation of said imager.
- 19. A photography method comprising the steps of:
defining a scene with a capture system of a camera; during said defining, capturing an electronic image having a field of view inclusive of said scene; evaluating said electronic image; and responsive to said evaluating, displaying on said camera one or more editorial suggestions relating to capture of said scene.
- 20. The method of claim 19 further comprising substantially delineating said scene in a viewfinder of said camera.
- 21. The method of claim 19 further comprising:
capturing said scene on archival media; and complying with a selected one of said editorial suggestions during said capturing.
- 22. The method of claim 21 wherein said complying further comprises reaiming said camera relative to a photographic subject.
- 23. The method of claim 21 wherein said complying further comprises changing a taking lens focal length.
- 24. The method of claim 21 further comprising evaluating said scene and wherein said displaying is responsive to both said evaluating steps.
- 25. The method of claim 24 wherein said evaluating said scene further comprises detecting, in said scene, a photographic subject and a background.
- 26. The method of claim 19 wherein said field of view has an outer part that extends beyond said scene and said suggestions include reaiming said camera in a direction toward said outer part.
- 27. The method of claim 19 further comprising capturing a film image of said scene during said capturing of said electronic image.
- 28. A photography method comprising the steps of:
delineating a scene in a viewfinder of a camera; during said delineating, capturing an electronic image having a field of view including said scene; evaluating one or more parameters of said electronic image and said scene to provide an assessment; matching said assessment to one or more of a plurality of editorial suggestions to define a suggestion set; following said capturing, selectively showing one or more of said editorial suggestions of said suggestion set on said camera.
- 29. The method of claim 28 wherein said showing further comprises modifying said electronic image in accordance with the respective said editorial suggestions and displaying said electronic image following said modifying.
- 30. The method of claim 28 wherein said assessing further comprises detecting a photographic subject in said scene and at least one of said editorial suggestions is reaiming said imager relative to said photographic subject.
- 31. The method of claim 30 wherein said field of view of said electronic image extends beyond said scene.
- 32. The method of claim 28 wherein said field of view of said electronic image extends beyond said scene.
- 33. The method of claim 28 wherein said assessing further comprises detecting a photographic subject in said scene and at least one of said editorial suggestions is changing a taking lens focal length.
- 34. A photography method comprising the steps of:
delineating a scene in a viewfinder of a camera; detecting the position of a photographic subject in said scene; responsive to said determining, showing on said camera one or more editorial suggestions of alternative positions for said photographic subject in said scene.
- 35. The method of claim 34 wherein said detecting further comprises capturing an electronic image having a field of view including said scene; and said showing further comprises displaying, as to each of said editorial suggestions, a corresponding portion of said electronic image.
- 36. The method of claim 35 wherein said electronic image has a field of view extending beyond said scene and at least one of said corresponding portions is only partially inclusive of said scene.
- 37. The method of claim 36 wherein said detecting further comprises determining the orientation of said camera and at least one of said editorial suggestions is to reorient said camera.
- 38. The method of claim 35 further comprising capturing a film image of said scene during said capturing of said electronic image.
