Claims
- 1. A rheology-modified ethylene polymer having less than 0.5 wt % gel as measured via ASTM D2765, Procedure A, a Composition Distribution Branch lndex (CDBI) greater than 50 percent and a molecular weight distribution less than 4.0, provided that when the rheology-modified ethylene polymer comprises a heterogeneous ethylene polymer, the heterogeneous ethylene polymer has a density in the range from about 0.87 g/cm.sup.3 to about 0.935 g/cm.sup.3, which rheology-modified ethylene polymer is characterizable by at least one of the following equations:
- Z.ltoreq.(log .eta..sub.0.1 -log .eta..sub.100)/log .eta..sub.100(I)
- log t.sub.0 =m.multidot.log (.eta..sub.0)-b (II)
- K.ltoreq.MS.sup.150 C -72.079.times.(log M.sub.w).sup.2 +666.28.times.(log M.sub.w)-1539.5 (III)
- wherein .eta..sub.0 is the zero shear rate viscosity of the polymer, .eta..sub.0.1 is the viscosity of the polymer measured at 190 C. and a shear rate of 0.1 radians/second, .eta..sub.100 is the viscosity of the polymer at a shear rate of 100 radian/second, t.sub.0 is the relaxation time of the polymer, Z is a number having a value of at least 0.30, m is a number having a value greater than or equal to 1.070, b is a number having a value less than or equal to 5.950, K is a number equal to at least 0.50 cN, MS.sup.150C is the melt strength of the rheology-modified polymer in cN measured at 150 C. and M.sub.w is the weight average molecular weight of the rheology-modified polymer.
- 2. The polymer of claim 1 wherein the polymer is a substantially linear ethylene polymer.
- 3. The polymer of claim 1 which is characterizable by equation (I) in which Z is 0.34.
- 4. The polymer of claim 1 which is characterizable by equation (II) wherein m is greater than or equal to 1.080 and b is less than or equal to5.900.
- 5. The polymer of claim 1 which is chacterizable by equation (III) wherein K is 1.00 cN.
- 6. The polymer of claim 1 which is characterizable by at least two of equations (I), (II) and (III).
- 7. The polymer of claim 1 which is characterizable by equations (I), (II) and (III).
