Claims
- 1. A ribbon assembly comprising:
- a strip of material having an upper surface and a lower surface and a strip width extending between a first strip side and a second strip side, the strip of material being divided into a plurality of strip segments with each strip segment having a first segment end and a second segment end with the second segment end of each strip segment being disposed about adjacent the first segment end of the adjacent strip segment;
- means disposed on the strip of material having a stretched condition and an unstretched condition, the strip of material being extendable in about a straight line in the stretched condition of said means, wherein the means having the stretched condition and the unstretched condition comprises a heat shrinkable material, the heat shrinkable material being in the stretched condition prior to heat being applied thereto and the heat shrinkable material shrinking when heat is applied thereto for moving the heat shrinkable material to the unstretched condition; and.
- adhesive or cohesive means disposed on the strip of material for adhesively or cohesively connecting portions of the strip of material after said heat shrinkable material has been heated to form the curved segments, to adhesively or cohesively hold each of the curved segments in the curved form.
- 2. The ribbon assembly of claim 1 wherein the the heat shrinkable material is connected to the lower surface of the strip of material at a plurality of connection points disposed between each of the segments.
- 3. The ribbon assembly of claim 2 wherein the heat shrinkable material is securely connected to the lower surface of the strip of material at secure connection points disposed between some of the segments and loosely connected to the lower surface of the strip of material at loose connection points disposed between the remaining segments, the heat shrinkable material being slidably connected to the sheet of material at the loose connection points.
- 4. The ribbon assembly of claim 2 wherein the heat shrinkable material is defined further as being securedly connected to the lower surface of the strip of material at secure connection points disposed between adjacent strip segments.
- 5. The ribbon assembly of claim 1 wherein the strip of material is rollable into the form of a roll of the strip of material, a portion of the strip of material being unrollable from the roll and cut therefrom to provide the strip of material for forming a bow.
- 6. The ribbon assembly of claim 1 wherein the strip of material is defined further to include a plurality of recess means formed in the first strip edge and in the second strip edge for cooperating to form the strip of material in the form of a bow.
- 7. The improvement of claim 1 wherein the strip of material is defined further as being divided into a plurality of strip segments with each strip segment having opposite ends, the opposite ends of each strip segment being brought into contact when each strip segment is formed into the curved segment, the adhesive or cohesive means being positioned on the strip of material for connecting the opposite ends of each strip segment to hold the formed curved segment in the curved form.
- 8. A pull bow ribbon assembly comprising:
- a strip of material having an upper surface and a lower surface and a strip width extending between a first strip side and a second strip side, the strip of material being divided into a plurality of strip segments with each strip segment having a first segment end and a second segment end with the second segment end of each strip segment being disposed about adjacent the first segment end of the adjacent strip segment;
- a pull member connected to the strip of material whereby an individual pulling on such pull member causes said pull member to form the strip of material into a plurality of curved segments with each curved segment having a curved form; and
- adhesive or cohesive means disposed on the strip of material for adhesively or cohesively connecting portions of the strip of material, after said pull member has been pulled to form the curved segments, to adhesively or cohesively hold each of the curved segments in the curved form.
- 9. A ribbon assembly comprising:
- a strip of material having an upper surface and a lower surface and a strip width extending between a first strip side and a second strip side, the strip of material being divided into a plurality of strip segments with each strip segment having a first segment end and a second segment end with the second segment end of each strip segment being disposed about adjacent the first segment end of the adjacent strip segment;
- means disposed on the strip of material for pulling the first segment end toward the second segment end of each strip segment to form each strip segment into a curved segment; and
- adhesive or cohesive means disposed on the strip of material for adhesively or cohesively connecting portions of the strip of material to adhesively or cohesively hold each of the curved segments in the curved form.
- 10. The ribbon assembly of claim 9 wherein the strip of material is defined further to include a plurality of recess means formed in the first strip edge and in the second strip edge for cooperating to form the strip of material in the form of a bow.
- 11. A method for making a bow or ruffle from a strip of material comprising:
- providing a strip of material having a plurality of strip segments with each strip segment having a first segment end and a second segment end with the second segment end of each strip segment being disposed about adjacent the first segment end of the adjacent strip segment, a pull member disposed on the strip of material, the pull member connected to the strip of material and an adhesive or cohesive composition disposed on the strip of material;
- pulling on the pull member whereby the first segment end of each strip segment of the material moves toward the second segment end of each strip segment of the material to form each strip segment into a curved segment and whereby the adhesive or cohesive means disposed on the strip of material adhesively or cohesively connects portions of the strip of material to adhesively or cohesively hold each of the curved segments in the curved form and thereby provide a bow or ruffle.
- 12. A method for making a bow or ruffle from a strip of material comprising:
- providing a strip of material having an elastic member disposed on the strip of material, the strip of material comprising a plurality of strip segments having an adhesive or cohesive component disposed on at least a portion of the strip segments, the strip segments defining a bow segment having a first bow end and a second bow end, each strip segment having a first segment end and a second segment end with the second segment end of each strip segment being disposed about adjacent the first segment end of the adjacent strip segment, the elastic member having a stretched condition and an unstretched condition and the elastic member connected to the first and second bow ends of the bow segment and loosely connected to the strip segments disposed between the first and second bow ends whereby the strip of material is extendable in about a straight line in when the elastic member is in the stretched condition; and
- cutting the strip of material and the elastic member at the first and second bow ends of the bow segment whereby the elastic member moves to the unstretched condition and the first segment end of each strip segment of the material moves toward the second segment end of each strip segment of the material to substantially automatically produce curved segments and whereby the adhesive or cohesive composition disposed on the strip of material adhesively or cohesively connects portions of the strip of material to adhesively or cohesively hold each of the curved segments in the curved form and thereby produce a bow or ruffle.
- 13. A method for making a bow or ruffle from a strip of material comprising:
- providing a strip of material having an elastic member disposed on the strip of material, the strip of material comprising a plurality of strip segments defining a bow segment having a first bow end and a second bow end, each strip segment having a first segment end and a second segment end with the second segment end of each strip segment being disposed about adjacent the first segment end of the adjacent strip segment, the elastic member having a stretched condition and an unstretched condition and the elastic member connected to the first and second bow ends of the bow segment and loosely connected to the strip segments disposed between the first and second bow ends whereby the strip of material is extendable in about a straight line in when the elastic member is in the stretched condition; and
- cutting the strip of material and the elastic member at the first and second bow ends of the bow segment whereby the elastic member moves to the unstretched condition and the first segment end of each strip segment of the material moves toward the second segment end of each strip segment of the material to substantially automatically produce curved segments, the curved segments cooperating to form a bow or ruffle.
- 14. A method for making a bow or ruffle from a strip of material comprising:
- providing a strip of material having a heat shrinkable member disposed on the strip of material, the strip of material comprising a plurality of strip segments defining a bow segment having a first bow end and a second bow end, each strip segment having a first segment end and a second segment end with the second segment end of each strip segment being disposed about adjacent the first segment end of the adjacent strip segment, the heat shrinkable member having a stretched condition and an unstretched condition whereby the strip of material is extendable in about a straight line when the heat shrinkable member is in the stretched condition; and
- heating the heat shrinkable member whereby the heat srinkable member moves to the unstretched condition and the first segment end of each strip segment of the material moves toward the second segment end of each strip segment of the material to substantially automatically produce curved segments, the curved segments cooperating to form a bow or ruffle.
- 15. A method for making a bow or ruffle from a strip of material comprising:
- providing a strip of material having a heat shrinkable member disposed on the strip of material, the strip of material comprising a plurality of strip segments having an adhesive or cohesive composition disposed on at least a portion of the strip segments, the strip segments defining a bow segment having a first bow end and a second bow end, each strip segment having a first segment end and a second segment end with the second segment end of each strip segment being disposed about adjacent the first segment end of the adjacent strip segment, the heat shrinkable member having a stretched condition and an unstretched condition whereby the strip of material is extendable in about a straight line in when the heat shrinkable member is in the stretched condition; and
- heating the heat shrinkable member whereby the heat srinkable member moves to the unstretched condition and the first segment end of each strip segment of the material moves toward the second segment end of each strip segment of the material and whereby the adhesive or cohesive composition disposed on the strip of material adhesively or cohesively connects portions of the strip of material to adhesively or cohesively hold each of the curved segments in the curved form and thereby produce a bow or ruffle.
- 16. A ribbon assembly comprising:
- a strip of material having an upper surface and a lower surface and a strip width extending between a first strip side and a second strip side, the strip of material being divided into a plurality of strip segments with each strip segment having a first segment end and a second segment end with the second segment end of each strip segment being disposable about adjacent the first segment end of the adjacent strip segment; and
- adhesive or cohesive means disposed on at least a portion of the strip of material for adhesively or cohesively connecting at least a portion of the adjacently disposed first and second segment ends when the strip of material is formed into curved segments so as to adhesively or cohesively hold the curved segments in the curved form.
