Claims
- 1. A method of mounting a lens in a luminaire comprising the steps of:
- providing a housing comprising at least a first and second housing portion which are hingedly coupled to allow access to a housing interior space in an open position, one of said first and second housing portions including an opening therethrough and a rim around said opening providing an edge portion for supporting a lens;
- placing a lens on said edge portion of one of said housing portions;
- adhering a semi-permeable gasket to said one housing portion and a periphery of said lens such that an edge portion of said lens and said one housing portion are trapped beneath the gasket thereby holding said lens to said one housing portion and preventing said lens from falling out of said housing when said housing is in the open position.
- 2. The method as defined in claim 1, wherein said gasket is initially in non-liquid form.
- 3. The method as defined in claim 1, wherein said gasket provides a breathing seal between said lens and said housing.
- 4. The method as defined in claim 1, wherein said gasket comprises an adhesive-backed felt material.
- 5. The method as defined in claim 1, wherein said gasket comprises an adhesive-backed polyester material.
- 6. A method of mounting a lens in a luminaire comprising the steps of:
- providing an upper housing including a reflector;
- providing a lower housing including an opening therethrough and an inner rim around said opening providing an inner edge portion for supporting a lens and an outer rim around said inner rim providing an outer edge portion for adherence of a gasket;
- placing a lens on said inner edge portion of said lower housing;
- adhering a semi-permeable gasket to said outer edge portion of said lower housing and lens such that an edge portion of said lens and said outer edge portion of said lower housing are trapped beneath said gasket thereby holding said lens to said lower housing; and
- coupling said lower housing to said upper housing.
- 7. The method as defined in claim 6, wherein said upper housing includes a rib substantially surrounding said reflector, said rib extending into said gasket upon coupling said upper and lower housings thereby forming a seal between said upper and lower housings.
- 8. The method as defined in claim 6, wherein said gasket is initially in non-liquid form.
- 9. The method as defined in claim 6, wherein said gasket provides a breathing seal between said lens and said housing.
- 10. The method as defined in claim 6, wherein said gasket comprises an adhesive-backed felt material.
- 11. The method as defined in claim 6, wherein said gasket comprises an adhesive-backed polyester material.
