Claims
- 1. A wiring device comprising:
a first lug located at a first end, a second lug located at a second end, a first opening in the first lug for receiving a first alignment pin, and a second opening in the second lug for receiving a second alignment pin.
- 2. The wiring device of claim 1 wherein the first and second lugs are extensions of a ground strap of the wiring device.
- 3. The wiring device of claim 2 further comprising:
latching pawls coupled to one of the lugs for engaging a wall plate.
- 4. The wiring device of claim 2 further comprising:
first and second latching pawls coupled to the first and second lugs for engaging a wall plate.
- 5. The wiring device of claim 4 comprising:
a third opening in the first lug for receiving a screw for mounting the wiring device to a box, and a fourth opening in the second lug for receiving a screw for mounting the wiring device to a box.
- 6. The wiring device of claim 5 wherein the third and fourth openings are clearance openings to allow the mounting screws to move horizontally within the openings.
- 7. The wiring device of claim 6 further comprising engagement members coupled to the first and second openings to frictionally engage and hold captive alignment pins within the openings.
- 8. The wiring device of claim 7 wherein each engagement member comprises at least two opposing yieldable projections having ends spaced apart by a distance less than the thickness of an alignment pin wherein the alignment pins bend to allow a pin to pass into the openings between the ends of the projections and frictionally engage a pin located within the opening to resist its withdrawal.
- 9. A wiring device comprising:
a first lug located at a first end, a second lug located at a second end, a first opening in the first lug for receiving a first alignment pin, a second opening in the second lug for receiving a second alignment pin, first and second captive members non-movably coupled to the first and second lugs and having openings that are aligned with the first and second openings in the lugs, and latching pawl coupled to each of the captive members for engaging a wall plate.
- 10. The wiring device of claim 9 further comprising:
a third opening in the first lug for receiving a screw for mounting the wiring device to a box, a fourth opening in the second lug for receiving a screw for mounting the wiring device to a box, wherein the openings of the captive members aligned with the first and second openings in the lugs have at least two opposing yieldable projections having ends spaced apart by a distance less than the thickness of an alignment pin for slidably receiving and frictionally resisting withdrawal of an alignment pin.
- 11. The wiring device of claim 10 wherein the third and fourth openings sized to permit mounting screws located in the openings to be repositioned laterally.
- 12. The wiring device of claim 10 wherein the first and second lugs are rectangular in shape.
