Claims
- 1. In an apparatus for supporting and feeding web material from a roll having a support core, a support device comprising, a pair of arms each carrying a respective chuck for receiving the roll core for support of the web material roll, said core being supported only at the core ends without the requirement for a core shaft, and means for supporting said pair of arms including means for moving said arms in unison toward and away from each other to respectively engage and disengage the web material roll, in combination with a frame having a base with wheel means for support and movement of the frame, and upright support means extending from said base at one side thereof and for carrying said support bracket and end bracket device, said arms positioned relative to said base so as to be disposed over the base, drive means including a drive belt for engaging the outer periphery of the roll, torque means engaging the web material between the roll and a utilization means to provide tensioning of the web material as it is taken from the roll, and means for supporting the drive means from the frame including a support member for support of the drive belt and said means for supporting the drive means being pivotally connected at one end thereof to said frame at a position over said arms.
- 2. Apparatus as set forth in claim 1 including a carriage for carrying said pair of arms and means for supporting the carriage in a manner to permit vertical movement of the carriage to raise and lower the web material roll.
- 3. Apparatus as set forth in claim 2 including a jack mean for operating the carriage to raise the web material roll.
- 4. Apparatus as set forth in claim 3 including a release means for operating the carriage to lower the web material roll.
- 5. Apparatus as set forth in claim 4 wherein said jack means is foot operated including a foot actuating pedal.
- 6. Apparatus as set forth in claim 1 wherein said means for supporting the carriage moves the arms horizontally toward and away from each other.
- 7. Apparatus as set forth in claim 6 wherein said means for moving the arms comprises a lead screw means that moves the arms equally and in unison.
- 8. Apparatus as set forth in claim 1 wherein said drive means also include a motor and rollers for supporting and driving the drive belt, said drive means support member being somewhat elongated and having one end that is pivoted and a free end, said motor disposed at said one end and said drive belt disposed adjacent said free end.
- 9. Apparatus as set forth in claim 1 wherein said frame base is comprised of a pair of base legs that are disposed substantially parallel to each other and horizontally and having the wheel means comprised of at least one wheel attached to each leg.
- 10. Apparatus as set forth in claim 9 wherein said base legs and arms are all disposed in a substantially parallel arrangement with the arms being spaced more closely together than the legs.
- 11. Apparatus as set forth in claim 1 wherein the base legs are longer than the arms and wherein there are also wheels provided at the base under the upright support means.
- 12. Apparatus as set forth in claim 1 including a support loop member for receiving said web and support bar means extending from said upright support means and supporting said support loop member to form a web material loop between said upright support means and said support loop member, said support loop member extending from said upright support means in a direction opposite to the direction that the arms extend from the upright support means.
- 13. Apparatus as set forth in claim 1 wherein said torque means comprises a torque motor and associated web material support roller.
- 14. Apparatus as set forth in claim 13 wherein said torque means further comprises a trolley roller having adjustable tension for contacting a web on a side opposite that contacted by said web material support roller.
- 15. Apparatus as set forth in claim 1 wherein said means for supporting the drive means includes weight means proximate the drive belt for maintaining the drive belt in contact with the outer periphery of the roll.
- 16. Apparatus for supporting and feeding web material from a roll having a support core to a utilization means that draws the web material thereto, said apparatus comprising;
- a frame having a base with wheel means for supporting and movement of the frame, and upright support means extending from said base at one side thereof,
- arm means including a pair of spacedly disposed arms,
- chuck means supported at the free end of said arms for receiving the roll core for support of the web material roll,
- means for supporting the arms means from said frame with the arms extending from said upright support means in a spaced apart relative parallel position and disposed over the frame base,
- drive means including a drive belt for engaging the outer periphery of the roll to drive the roll,
- roller means receiving the web material from the roll for support and guiding of the web material between the roll and utilization means,
- means for supporting the roller means at a location from the upright support means and that is over the position where the arms extend from the upright support means,
- torque means engaging the web material between the roll and the utilization means to provide tensioning of the web material as it is taken from the roll,
- and control means for sensing the draw of the web material into the utilization means to, in turn, control the rate of the drive means, said drive means including a drive motor, the speed of rotation of which is controlled from said control means.
- 17. Apparatus as set forth in claim 16 wherein said torque means comprises a torque motor having, associated therewith, a web material support roller and an opposing trolley roller in pressurized contact with the web material support roller in order to maintain the web in close contact with the web material support roller.
- 18. Apparatus as set forth in claim 16 wherein said means for supporting the drive means is pivotally connected at one end to said upright support means at a pivot point located at a height over the top of a full web material roll.
- 19. Apparatus as set forth in claim 18 including weight means on the elongated support member at the free end thereof.
