Claims
- 1. An assembly that can access a data storage medium comprising:
a mount including a bore; at least one arm connected with the mount, wherein the at least one arm can be disconnected from the mount without disassembling the bore; a flexible member connected with the at least one arm; and a head associated with the flexible member.
- 2. The assembly of claim 1, wherein the at least one arm is removably attached to the mount by screws.
- 3. The assembly of claim 1, including a bearing arrangement within the bore.
- 4. The assembly of claim 3, wherein the bearing arrangement is a bearing cartridge.
- 5. The assembly of claim 1, wherein the flexible member is connected with the at least one arm by swaging.
- 6. The assembly of claim 1, wherein the flexible member is connected with the at least one arm by spot welding.
- 7. The assembly of claim 1, wherein the at least one arm comprises a metal selected from the group consisting of stainless steel, aluminum, titanium, and magnesium.
- 8. An assembly that can access a data storage medium comprising:
a mount; a bearing arrangement associated with the mount; at least one arm removably connected with the mount such that the at least one arm does not contact the bearing arrangement; a flexible member connected with the at least one arm; and a head associated with the flexible member.
- 9. The assembly of claim 8, wherein the at least one arm is removably attached to the mount by screws.
- 10. The assembly of claim 8, including a bearing arrangement within the bore.
- 11. The assembly of claim 10, wherein the bearing arrangement is a bearing cartridge.
- 12. The assembly of claim 8, wherein the flexible member is connected with the at least one arm by swaging.
- 13. The assembly of claim 8, wherein the flexible member is connected with the at least one arm by spot welding.
- 14. The assembly of claim 8, wherein the at least one arm comprises a metal selected from the group consisting of stainless steel, aluminum, titanium, and magnesium.
- 15. An assembly that can access a data storage medium having a disk comprising:
a mount adapted to be positioned adjacent to the data storage medium; a bearing arrangement associated with the mount such that the mount can pivot; at least one arm connected with the mount such that the at least one arm can be disconnected from the mount without exposing the bearing arrangement, the at least one arm adapted to be positioned in close proximity to a surface of the disk in order to access a particular location on the disk; a flexible member connected with the at least one arm, the flexible member adapted to provide a load force directed toward the surface of the disk; and a head connected with the flexible member, the head adapted to perform on the disk one of reading and writing. wherein due to the bearing arrangement the at least one arm can sweep an arc extending between an outer diameter of the disk to an inner diameter of the disk.
- 16. An assembly that can perform an operation with a data storage medium comprising:
an actuator assembly including:
a mounting block having a wedge shape; a bore within the mounting block; a voice coil holder extending from the proximal end of the mounting block; and a spacer extending from the distal end of the mounting block, wherein the spacer includes threaded holes on a top surface and a bottom surface in order to receive screws; a first arm assembly connected with the top surface of the spacer by one or more screws, the first arm assembly including:
an arm; a flexible member connected with the arm; and a head associated with the flexible member; a second arm assembly connected with the bottom surface of the spacer by one or more screws, the second arm assembly including:
an arm; a flexible member connected with the arm; and a head associated with the flexible member.
- 17. An assembly that can perform an operation with a data storage medium including an actuator assembly having a voice coil holder, a spacer, a bearing arrangement, and a top and bottom arm wherein the improvement comprises:
the top and bottom arm can be disconnected from the actuator assembly without exposing the bearing arrangement.
- 18. An assembly that can access a data storage medium comprising:
a mount including a bore which is adapted to receive a bearing arrangement; at least one arm connected with the mount, wherein the at least one arm can be disconnected from the mount without exposing the bearing arrangement; a flexible member connected with the at least one arm; and a head associated with the flexible member.
- 19. The assembly of claim 18, wherein the at least one arm is removably attached to the mount by screws.
- 20. The assembly of claim 18, wherein the flexible member is connected with the at least one arm by one of swaging and spot welding.
- 21. An assembly that can access a data storage medium comprising:
a mount adapted to be associated with a bearing arrangement; at least one arm removably connected with the mount such that the at least one arm does not contact the bearing arrangement; a flexible member connected with the at least one arm; and a head associated with the flexible member.
- 22. The assembly of claim 21, wherein the at least one arm is removably attached to the mount by screws.
- 23. The assembly of claim 21, wherein the flexible member is connected with the at least one arm by one of swaging and spot welding.
- 24. An arm assembly adapted to be mounted relative to a rotating data storage medium comprising:
an arm including one or more bores adapted to receive a fastener in order to connect the arm to a mount block; a flexible member secured to said arm; and a head associated with the flexible member.
- 25. An apparatus for data storage comprising:
a housing; a spindle motor connected with the housing; a disk rotatably connected with the spindle motor; an actuator assembly movably connected with the housing including at least one threaded hole; and an arm assembly connected with the actuator assembly by at least one screw, the arm assembly including:
an arm; a flexible member connected with the arm; and a head associated with the flexible member.
- 26. An assembly that can access a data storage medium comprising:
a mount; and at least one arm removably connected with the mount by at least one screw.
- 27. An assembly that can access a data storage medium comprising:
a mount; and at least one arm removably connected with the mount by a fastener.
