Claims
- 1. A head suspension for a rotary disk storage unit including a rotary disk recording medium having a data surface capable of recording information, means for rotating the rotary disk recording medium, an air bearing slider having a transducer mounted thereon for writing data on the data surface or reading data from the data surface, actuator means for driving the air bearing slider to a position on the data surface, said head suspension connecting said air bearing slider and said actuator means to each other and comprising a load beam member having sufficient rigidity to press said air bearing slider against the rotary disk recording medium under a predetermined load, and a flexible sheet member having a gimbal spring member formed at a first end thereof, said gimbal spring member including an adhering portion to which said air bearing slider is adhered, an arm portion contiguous to said adhering portion and having sufficient flexibility to permit turning movements of said air bearing slider in roll and pitch directions, an outer arm portion surrounding said adhering portion and said arm portion, and a wiring structure formed integrally on said flexible sheet member and extending from said transducer, supported on said gimbal spring member toward a second end of said flexible sheet member, at which said load beam member is joined to said actuator means, said flexible sheet member being securely adhered at a portion thereof, other than said adhering portion and said arm portions, to said load beam member so as to be disposed in the same plane as said load beam member.
- 2. The head suspension according to claim 1, wherein said flexible sheet member second end is positioned substantially at a location at which said load beam member is joined to said actuator means.
- 3. A head suspension for a rotary disk storage unit including a rotary disk recording medium having a data surface capable of recording information, means for rotating the rotary disk recording medium, an air bearing slider having a transducer mounted thereon for writing data on the data surface or reading data from the data surface, actuator means for driving the air bearing slider to a position on the data surface, said head suspension connecting said air bearing slider and said actuator means to each other and comprising a load beam member having sufficient rigidity to press said air bearing slider against the rotary disk recording medium under a predetermined load, a gimbal spring member including an adhering portion to which said air bearing slider is adhered, an arm portion contiguous to said adhering portion and having sufficient flexibility to permit turning movements of said air bearing slider in roll and pitch directions, an outer arm portion surrounding said adhering portion and said arm portion, and a flexible sheet member having a wiring structure formed integrally thereon and having said gimbal spring member formed at a first end thereof, said flexible sheet member extending from said transducer, supported on said gimbal spring member toward a second end of said flexible sheet member, at which said load beam member is joined to said actuator means, said flexible sheet member being securely adhered at a portion thereof, other than said adhering portion and said arm portions, to said load beam member so as to be disposed in the same plane as said load beam member.
- 4. The head suspension according to claim 3, wherein said flexible sheet member second end is positioned substantially at a location at which said load beam member is joined to said actuator means.
