Claims
- 1. A rotary harrow comprising an elongated frame portion and a plurality of rotatable soil working members supported on said frame portion, said soil working members being rotatable about corresponding upwardly extending axes positioned in a row and driving means connected to rotate said members, said driving means being housed in said frame portion and an elongated ground engaging member being connected to said frame portion, said ground engaging member being located immediately in front of said row of soil working members to protect same from ground debris, said ground engaging member extending across substantially the entire working width of said row, said member being pivoted to said frame portion and being freely pivotable upwardly and downwardly about a substantially horizontal pivotal axis that extends transverse to the direction of travel, said horizontal axis being located in front of the rear of the ground engaging member and immediately above said frame portion, said member being hollow and having a rear surface that comprises an elongated abutment stop, said stop extending substantially parallel to the front side of said frame portion and being located to the rear of said horizontal pivotal axis.
- 2. A rotary harrow as claimed in claim 1, wherein said ground engaging member is pivotably connected to the top of said frame portion by spaced apart pins located adjacent the front side of said frame portion.
- 3. A rotary harrow as claimed in claim 2, wherein said pins are located immediately above and in front of said frame portion.
- 4. A rotary harrow comprising an elongated frame portion and a plurality of rotatable soil working members supported on said portion, said soil working members being rotatable about upwardly extending axes positioned in a row that extends transverse to the normal direction of travel and being driven by means housed in said frame portion, an elongated ground engaging member being pivoted to the frame portion, said member being located immediately in front of said frame portion and said row of soil working members to protect same from ground debris, said member extending over substantially the entire working width of the row of soil working members and being pivotable with respect to said frame portion between stop limit means, said member comprising at least one abutment surface that abuts against the front of said frame portion and said member being pivotable away from that frame portion about a substantially horizontal pivotal axis that extends transverse to the direction of travel, said pivotal axis being located in front of a rear side of said member and immediately above the upper part of the frame portion, the top of the frame portion comprising support means that extends forwardly and above said front side, said ground engaging member being pivoted to said support means and said support means providing a further stop surface of said limit means.
- 5. A harrow as claimed in claim 4, wherein the greatest cross-sectional width of said member is located adjacent said rear side.
- 6. A harrow as claimed in claim 4, wherein said pivotal axis is located in front and above said abutment surface, said surface comprising said rear side.
