Claims
- 1. A vacuum valve device, comprising
- a housing having a wall with a substantially flat valve surface thereon inside said housing,
- a plate-like valve carriage having a cavity therein facing said valve surface,
- said wall having a plurality of vacuum distribution ports formed therein and communicating with said valve surface,
- a soft resilient rubber-like plate-like valve member snugly received in said cavity and having vacuum distribution passage means thereon and being slidable along said valve surface for selectively interconnecting said ports,
- guiding means in said housing for guiding said valve carriage for movement of said valve carriage and said valve member along said valve surface,
- and control means for causing said movement of said valve carriage,
- said valve carriage having a plurality of tractor elements thereon projecting into said cavity,
- said valve member having a plurality of blind openings therein for receiving said tractor elements to transmit driving forces between said valve carriage and said valve member and to retain said valve member in said cavity,
- and pressure preventing means disposed within each of said blind openings to prevent buildup of air pressure therein for maintaining said valve member in said cavity.
- 2. A device according to claim 1, in which said tractor elements take the form of pins formed on said valve carriage and projecting into said cavity.
- 3. A device according to claim 1,
- including a keying pin formed on said carriage and projecting into said cavity,
- said valve member having a blind keying opening for receiving said keying pin,
- said keying pin and said keying opening being in one unique location of a plurality of locations for precluding the assembly of an incorrect valve member with said valve carriage.
- 4. A device according to claim 1,
- in which said tractor elements take the form of generally cylindrical pins formed on said valve carriage and projecting into said cavity,
- said blind openings being substantially cylindrical and being dimensioned for snugly receiving said pins,
- said pressure preventing means comprising a flat surface on each of said pins for providing a passage between the flat surface and the corresponding cylindrical opening so that air otherwise confined in said opening by said pin can escape through said passage to prevent compression of air in said openings.
- 5. A device according to claim 1,
- in which said tractor elements take the form of generally cylindrical pins formed on said valve carriage and projecting into said cavity,
- said blind openings being substantially cylindrical for snugly receiving said pins,
- said pressure preventing means comprising an air escape passage between each of said pins and the corresponding opening to prevent the compression of air otherwise trapped in said openings by said pins when said valve member is assembled with said valve carriage.
- 6. A device according to claim 2,
- said pressure preventing means comprising an air escape passage between each of said tractor elements and the corresponding blind opening to prevent compression of air otherwise trapped in said openings by said tractor elements when said valve member is assembled with said valve carriage.
