- 4. The carpet web of claim 1, wherein the web has a fusion bonded face.
- 5. The web of claim 1, wherein the at least two colors comprises a first color and a second color and the plurality of stripes are formed by yarn tufts of the first color and the second color, wherein at least some of the yarn tufts of the first color have a height greater than at least some of the yarn tufts of the second color proximate the tufts of the first color.
- 6. The carpet web of claim 1, wherein the at least two colors comprises at least one background color and at least one primary color.
- 7. The carpet web of claim 6, wherein the at least one background color comprises a plurality of background colors, each occupying a portion of the width of the carpet web.
- 8. The carpet web of claim 7, wherein a background color occupies a portion of the width of the carpet web exclusive of the other background colors.
- 9. The carpet web of claim 7, wherein the background colors have similar intensities.
- 10. The carpet web of claim 6, wherein the at least one primary color further comprises a plurality of primary colors.
- 11. The carpet web of claim 10, wherein the plurality of primary colors comprises at least two sets of primary colors, each set comprising at least two primary colors.
- 12. The carpet web of claim 11, wherein each set of primary colors forms stripes along a portion of the width of the carpet web.
- 13. The carpet web of claim 12, wherein each set of primary colors forms stripes along a portion of the width of the carpet web exclusive of other sets of primary colors.
- 14. The carpet web of claim 12, wherein sets of primary colors on adjacent portions of the web comprise a common primary color.
- 15. The web of claim 10, wherein the stripes are formed by yarn tufts of the plurality of primary colors, wherein at least some of the yarn tufts differ from each other in height.
- 16. A carpet tile cut from the web of claim 1.
- 17. The at least one carpet tile of claim 16, wherein at least some of the stripes are oriented parallel to an edge of the carpet tile.
- 18. Floorcovering comprising a plurality of carpet tiles cut from the web of claim 1 and positioned on a flooring surface.
- 19. The floorcovering of claim 18, wherein the plurality of carpet tiles are positioned side-by-side on a flooring surface in the same rotational orientation.
- 20. The floorcovering of claim 19, further comprising a plurality of columns of tiles with aligned side edges, wherein top and bottom edges of tiles in adjacent columns are non-aligned.
- 21. The floorcovering of claim 20, wherein top and bottom edges of tiles in alternate columns are non-aligned.
- 22. The floorcovering of claim 20, wherein top and bottom edges of tiles in alternate columns are aligned.
- 23. The floorcovering of claim 19, further comprising a plurality of rows of tiles with aligned top and bottom edges, wherein side edges of tiles in adjacent rows are non-aligned.
- 24. The floorcovering of claim 18, wherein the plurality of carpet tiles are positioned in a first direction and a second direction rotated 90° from the first direction.
- 25. The floorcovering of claim 24, wherein each tile positioned in the first direction abuts only tiles positioned in the second direction.
- 26. Floorcovering comprising a plurality of carpet tiles having a tile span and cut from a carpet web having a length not an even multiple of the tile span and a width and comprising a tufted face having a pattern comprising a plurality of stripes, wherein:
a. the plurality of stripes are substantially parallel; b. the plurality of stripes each comprise a stripe width, wherein at least some of the stripe widths are different; c. at least some of the plurality of stripes do not appear to extend the entire length of the web; and d. the plurality of stripes are formed by yarn tufts of at least a first color and a second color, at least some of the yarn tufts of the first color having a height greater than at least some of the yarn tufts of the second color proximate the tufts of the first color, wherein the plurality of carpet tiles are positioned side-by-side on a flooring surface in the same rotational orientation.
- 27. The floorcovering of claim 26, further comprising a plurality of columns of tiles with aligned side edges, wherein top and bottom edges of tiles in adjacent columns are non-aligned.
- 28. A method for manufacturing a carpet web for separation into tiles having a tile span, the web having a length not an even multiple of the tile span and a width and comprising a face having a pattern comprising a plurality of stripes, the method comprising forming substantially parallel stripes on the carpet web using at least one background color and at least one primary color, wherein:
a. at least some of the stripes, each having a width, are a different width than other of the stripes; and b. at least some of the stripes do not appear to extend the entire length of the web.
- 29. The method of claim 28, wherein the face is a tufted face and wherein forming the stripes further comprises forming strips by tufting yarns of the background color and tufting yams of the primary color, wherein at least some of the yarn tufts of the primary color have a height greater than at least some of the yarn tufts of the background color proximate the tufts of the primary color.
- 30. A positionally ambiguous carpet tile, the entirety of which is covered by a pattern of parallel stripes, wherein each stripe comprises a stripe width and wherein at least some of the stripe widths are different.
- 31. An installation of carpet tiles having parallel stripes extending across the entire installation and an appearance in which the locations at which adjacent tiles abut are not visually prominent.
