Claims
- 1. A method for fixedly securing a magnet in a first position within a claw-type rotor assembly having at least two opposed surfaces on respective pole pieces of said claw-type rotor, said method comprising the steps of;inserting said magnet between said at least two opposed surfaces forming a channel along a first direction; providing a pointed tool; and swaging said pointed tool into at least one of said two respective pole pieces adjacent to said two opposed surfaces, thereby creating at least one swaged portion by deforming said at least one respective pole piece into said channel, said swaged portion engaging said magnet in order to block said magnet from escaping said channel in a direction opposite said first direction.
- 2. The method of claim 1 wherein said rotor assembly includes a first and a second axially projecting finger and wherein said first of said at least two opposed surfaces is defined by said first finger.
- 3. The method of claim 2 wherein said second of said at least two opposed surfaces its defined by said second finger.
- 4. The method of claim 1 wherein said rotor assembly includes a first member having a body with at least one projecting finger and a second member having a body with at least one projecting finger and wherein said first of said two opposed surfaces is defined by said body of said first member and wherein said second of said two opposed surfaces is formed by said finger of said second member.
