Abstract
The handbag or carrying case accessory includes a plastic body with two retaining compartments for retaining various objects. The accessory body includes a friction fit section which slides over the top of various rubber handbags or carrying cases. The use of this friction fit design provides for installing the accessory in various locations along the top rim of the rubber handbag or carrying case as desired.
Description
FIELD OF THE INVENTION

The present invention relates generally to a rubber handbag or carrying case accessory. More specifically, the present invention is a rubber handbag or carrying case accessory which is easily installed and removed with no additional hardware by way of a friction fit over the top rim of the rubber handbag or carrying case.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

Rubber handbag or carrying case accessories are common items that come in a variety of forms. The typical construction of rubber handbag or carrying case accessories involve inserting snap fasteners through the supplied apertures on the exterior of the bag, or button style devices that slip through the supplied apertures on the exterior of the bag. The typical accessories hang from the apertures and are single use, single retaining compartment accessories. It would therefore be desirable to produce a multipurpose accessory that fits over the top rim of the rubber handbag or carrying case with two retaining compartments. This will allow the user to securely hold multiple items in the accessory body.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

It is an object of the present invention to provide a new and improved rubber handbag or carrying case accessory. It is another object of the present invention to provide a new and improved rubber handbag or carrying case accessory with a friction fit installation over the top rim of the rubber handbag or carrying case. In order to achieve at least one of these objects, one embodiment of a rubber handbag or carrying case accessory, referred to hereinafter as an accessory body, includes a body defining two retaining compartments. Further, the accessory body includes a friction fit section that attaches to the top section of a rubber handbag or carrying case. To this end, the accessory body is easily installed or removed and can be installed in different positions relative to the user.

The accessory body contains two retaining compartments. The larger retaining compartment contains a plurality of apertures to provide venting and drainage of condensation. The smaller retaining compartment contains one aperture to provide the insertion of a charging cord for an electronic device. The two retaining compartments can retain electronic devices, beverages, pre-packaged foods, or any other object that will fit in the compartments.

DETAILED DESCRIPTIONS OF THE INVENTION

All illustrations of the drawings are for the purpose of describing selected versions of the present invention and are not intended to limit the scope of the present invention.

Referring to the accompanying drawings, an accessory body in accordance with the invention is shown in FIG. 1-12 and is designated generally as a body 1 with having two retaining compartments 2, 3 and a friction fit section 5 with upper 7 and lower 6 pressure points.

The body 1 is made of a rigid or flexible material such as ABS plastic or any other type of rigid or flexible plastic. Said body can be made of a foam resin such as ethylene vinyl acetate. In other embodiments of the present invention, said body can be made from an antimicrobial material.

The larger retaining compartment 2 is cylindrical in shape and can hold a variety of beverages, foods, topical creams, automobile keys, remote control devices, or to usefully retain any other object within the confines of the retaining compartment 2. Said larger retaining compartment 2 has a bottom with a plurality of apertures to facilitate venting and draining of condensation.

The smaller retaining compartment 3 is rectangular in shape with chamfered corners and can hold a variety of devices such as smart phones, reading tablets, notepads, pens, pencils, markers, pre-packaged foods, or to usefully retain any other object within the confines of the retaining compartment 3. Said smaller retaining compartment 3 has a bottom with one rectangular aperture 4 with chamfered corners. Said rectangular aperture 4 is to facilitate the use of a portable charger for electronic devices.

The friction fit section 5 is a channel dividing the large retaining compartment 2 and the small retaining compartment 3. As shown in FIG. 10-12, said friction fit section 5 is designed to slide in a downward motion over the top of a rubber handbag or carrying case 8 and rest firmly on the top rim 9 and any side of the rubber handbag or carrying case 8. As shown in FIG. 11, the body 1 is able to achieve a friction fit on the rubber handbag or carrying case 8 by use of a lower 6 and upper 7 pressure point against the rubber handbag or carrying case 8 side wall and top rim 9. Said pressure points 6, 7 provide friction between the accessory body 1 and the rubber handbag or carrying case 8. A plurality of pressure points 6, 7 within the friction fit section 5 may provide additional friction between the accessory body 1 and the rubber handbag or carrying case 8.

Although the invention has been explained in relation to its preferred embodiment, it is to be understood that many other possible modifications and variations can be made without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention.
