Claims
- 1. An elastomeric plastic support roller having a cylindrical hollow shaft, a plurality of laterally spaced elastomeric annular members bonded to said hollow shaft, each of said elastomeric members are in compression, and each of said elastomeric members having bonded to their exterior surface a relatively thick ultra high molecular weight polyethylene cylindrical sleeve that is coextensive with the lateral dimensions of said elastomeric annular members to provide said shaft with a plurality of axially spaced rollers.
- 2. A rubber plastic support roller as set forth in claim 1 wherein said elastomeric annular member and said ultra high molecular weight polyethylene sleeve shrink in a ratio of ranges of approximately 1 to 3.6 times to 1 to 1.10 times to provide said compression of said elastomeric sleeve.
- 3. A rubber plastic support roller as set forth in claim 2 wherein each of said elastomeric annular members and said ultra high molecular weight polyethylene sleeves are cured simultaneously to form integral bonded rings to provide a compression on said elastomeric member.
- 4. A rubber plastic support roller having a cylindrical hollow shaft, a plurality of laterally spaced relatively thick elastomeric annular member mounted on said shaft, each of said elastomeric members having bonded to their exterior surface a relatively thick cylindrical sleeve made of an ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene, said elastomeric members and their accompanying ultra high molecular weight polyethylene sleeves are cured simultaneously to form integral bonded rings that place said laterally spaced elastomeric members in compression, and said elastomeric annular members have an initial inner surface diameter smaller than the outside diameter of said shaft.
- 5. A rubber plastic support roller as set forth in claim 4 wherein each of said cylindrical polyethylene sleeves during said cure shrinks more than three times the ratio of said elastomeric annular member to effect said compression of said elastomeric member.
