Claims
- 1. A method for biotechnologically preparing optically active (S) .alpha.-cyano-3-phenoxy-benzyl acetate which comprises reacting (R,S) .alpha.-cyano-3-phenoxy-benzyl acetate of the formula ##STR3## with a carboxylic acid hydrolase originating from a microorganism of the species Candida cylindriae and capable of asymmetrically hydrolyzing the ester of said formula to give optically active (S) .alpha.-cyano-3-phenoxy-benzyl acetate.
- 2. A method of claim 1 wherein said reaction is performed at a pH not higher than 8.
- 3. A method of claim 2 wherein said reaction is performed at a pH of from about 5 to about 6.
- 4. A method of claim 1 wherein said reaction is performed at a temperature of from about 40.degree. C. to about 50.degree. C.
- 5. A method of claim 1 wherein said reaction is performed at a pH of from about 5 to about 6, at a temperature of from about 40.degree. C. to about 50.degree. C., during a time of from about 10 to about 40 hours.
