Safety plate bib

Abstract
A safety plate bib includes a cover skirt. An insulated material is retained within the cover skirt. An elastic band is retained within the cover skirt. A stretch thread secures the insulated material and the elastic band within the cover skirt. The cover skirt, the insulated material, the elastic band, and the stretch thread cooperate with each other to form fittingly engage with an edge of a dishware.
Description
FIELD OF THE INVENTION

The present invention relates to an easy plate cover, and more particularly to fit easily over plate, bowl, or cup edges as a protective means to insure that a hot plate, bowl or cup, is always covered for safe handling.

BACKGROUND

In other conventional plate covering products, there is not the safety of covering the edges efficiently when the level of heat is extreme, from removal of plate, bowls, or cups out of a microwave oven, stove, or other appliance that would cause extreme heat to user.

SUMMARY

My invention, the plate bib will always grip the outer edges of the plate, bowl, or cup with a snug and safety fitted material. It can be handled effectively by a small child, elderly person, and most anyone without the worry of severe burns or injuries. Other products' drawbacks do not allow for adequate prevention of a hot plate, bowl, or cup, as the material is hard thereby they are inadequate to prevent extreme heat on the outer edges of the plates, bowls, and cups.

An object of the present invention is to solve the above noted drawbacks and to provide a novel, easy-fitted plate bib, including therein principally: a heat absorbable material flexible to fit on outer edges of plates, bowls and cups; Polyurethane materials that are fire resistant, and easily handled with hot plates, bowls and cups, light weighted material easy to use by permitting the elastic material to encircle the edges of dishware to always maintain safe handling.

A further object of the present invention is to provide an easy-fit dishware covering having a snuggly fitted cotton material over edges preventing spills and burns. It is designed as a secure cover skirt, with a criss crossed bottom to insure a sufficient fit preventing plate bib from slipping off plates, bowls or cups.

A still further object of the present invention is to provide an easy-fit covering plate bib having convenient insulation integrally formed directly throughout weight of the plate bib to facilitate absorption of hot dishware, and which does not need any other assembly.

Other objects and advantages of the invention will become apparent from the following description of a preferred embodiment of the invention, as illustrated in the accompanying drawings.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS

FIG. 2. is a front perspective view of the safety plate bib of FIG. 1;

FIG. 3 is a bottom plan view of a safety plate bib according to another embodiment of the invention, wherein the safety plate bib includes a weight element; and

FIG. 4 is a front perspective view of the safety plate bib of FIGS. 1-3 receiving a plate.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT

Referring initially to FIGS. 1 and 2, a safety plate bib of the present invention comprises an easy fit cotton (polyurethane) stretched covering or cover skirt 1 retaining an insulated material (polyurethane) 3. The safety plate bib slips over plates, bowls, cups in circumference. 11″ inch diameter. Tightly sewn stretch thread 2 circumference that provides secure snug fit of material. The safety plate bib is 1″ inch to 2″ inches thick that allows for insulation between hot edges of plates, bowls, or cups.

FIG. 3. illustrates the safety plate bib sewed together with approximately one yard of cotton cloth to form the cotton covering 1, stitched with stretch thread 2, on both sides, with an elastic band (not shown) including the insulated material 3 of fire resistant cotton and polyurethane sewn interior. This is sewn in circumference to tightly fit around plates, bowls, cups, approximately 11 in. across in diameter. FIG. 3 and FIG. 4. Adjustments to inches can be made to fit other size plates, bowls, cups. To prevent the possibility of the safety plate bib from coming off, as an added feature, would include a weight element or two strips 4 of elastic, approximately ½ in wide, stitched to a bottom of the plate bib, from each side, diagonally across the bottom to insure the plate bib stays securely fitted.

Elasticity allows for easy on, off the weight element that will cover plates, bowls, and cups.
