Claims
- 1. A safety support device for supporting a user's body above ground while the user is in an erect standing position, including
a frame having a mounting section with a forward end and a rear end, a pair of forward legs attached to the forward end of the mounting section and a pair of rear legs attached to the rear end of the mounting section, a pair of under arm support members attached to the mounting section, each under arm support member being manual adjustable to accommodate different users of varying height, upon adjustment, each said support member engaging an arm pit of the user when the user is being supported by the device, said legs being of a length that enables the user to assume a standing position with the under arm support members beneath the arm pits of the user's arms and user's feet touching the ground.
- 2. The safety support device of claim 1 where the forward legs each have a distal end to which is attached a roller assembly.
- 3. The safety support device of claim 1 where each roller assembly includes a roller member that has a brake member that is disengaged when a user is using the device and not being supported by the device and is engaged when a user is being supported by the device.
- 4. The safety support device of claim 1 where the legs have an adjustable length of from 48 to 72 inches to accommodate the height of the user.
- 5. The safety support device of claim 1 where there are hand grips extending between adjacent forward and rear legs.
- 6. The safety support device of claim 1 where each arm support member has a substantially inverted U-shape.
- 7. The safety support device of claim 1 where mounting section comprises
a pair of leg support members which are substantially mirror images of each other, each having a pair of forward and rearward downwardly extending elements which receive a leg, and a plurality of connector members extending between the pair of leg support members at the forward end of the mounting section.
- 8. The safety support device of claim 7 where the connector members are detachably connected to the leg support members.
- 9. The safety support device of claim 1 including a manually release mechanism associated with each under arm support member that enables the user while standing erect to change the position of the under arm support members to accommodate the height of the individual user.
- 10. The safety support device of claim 9 where each release mechanism includes a stop member that is manually moveable between a first position engages and associated under arm support member and holds said associated under arm support member in one of a plurality of different positions and a second position allowing the associated under arm support member to be repositioned.
- 11. The safety support device of claim 10 where each release mechanism includes a flexible, resilient handle that is connected to the stop member, said handle being manually manipulated to move the stop member between the first and second positions.
- 12. The safety support device of claim 11 where the stop member is mounted on a spring element that is loaded upon manual manipulation of the handle and returns to its unloaded condition upon disengaging the handle.
- 13. The safety device of claim 1 including a harness.
