Claims
- 1. A material sampling interface comprising:
at least one inlet; at least one outlet; at least one removable reservoir positioned between said inlet and said outlet; and a removable sampler within said reservoir, wherein said sampler is adapted to sample material within said reservoir.
- 2. The interface in claim 1, wherein said material comprises one of a fluid, a gas, and particles.
- 3. The interface in claim 1, further comprising at least one pump connected to said inlet, said pump being adapted to pump said material into said inlet.
- 4. The interface in claim 1, further comprising at least one filter positioned to prevent particles from contaminating said reservoir.
- 5. The interface in claim 1, further comprising a one-way outlet valve connected between said outlet and said reservoir, wherein said outlet valve prevents said material from passing from said outlet to said reservoir.
- 6. The interface in claim 1, further comprising sealing quick disconnects adjacent ends of said reservoir.
- 7. A material sampling interface comprising:
at least one inlet manifold; at least one outlet manifold; at least one reservoir positioned between said inlet manifold and said outlet manifold; a sampler within said reservoir, wherein said sampler is adapted to sample material as said material is collected in said reservoir; and a bypass positioned between said inlet manifold and said outlet manifold, said bypass being adapted to flush said inlet manifold directly to said outlet manifold.
- 8. The interface in claim 7, further comprising a flow meter connected to said inlet manifold, said flow meter being adapted to measure flow rate and volume of said material passing through said inlet manifold.
- 9. The interface in claim 7, further comprising at least one pump connected to said inlet manifold, said pump being adapted to pump said material into said inlet manifold.
- 10. The interface in claim 7, further comprising at least one filter connected to said inlet manifold, said filter being adapted to prevent particles from contaminating said inlet manifold.
- 11. The interface in claim 7, further comprising a one-way outlet valve connected between said outlet manifold and said reservoir, wherein said outlet valve prevents said material from passing from said outlet manifold to said reservoir.
- 12. The interface in claim 7, further comprising sealing quick disconnects adjacent ends of said reservoir.
- 13. A material sampling interface comprising:
at least one inlet; at least one outlet; at least one reservoir positioned between said inlet and said outlet; an analyzer within said reservoir, said analyzer being adapted to produce a chemical profile of material within said reservoir; and a processing unit connected to said analyzer, said processing unit being adapted to process and store data output from said analyzer.
- 14. The interface in claim 13, wherein said material comprises one of a fluid, a gas, and particles.
- 15. The interface in claim 13, further comprising at least one pump connected to said inlet, said pump being adapted to pump said material into said inlet.
- 16. The interface in claim 13, further comprising at least one filter connected to said inlet, said filter being adapted to prevent particles from contaminating said inlet.
- 17. The interface in claim 13, further comprising a one-way outlet valve connected between said outlet and said reservoir, wherein said outlet valve prevents said material from passing from said outlet to said reservoir.
- 18. The interface in claim 13, further comprising sealing quick disconnects adjacent ends of said reservoir.
- 19. A material sampling interface comprising:
at least one inlet manifold; at least one outlet manifold; a plurality of rungs positioned between said inlet manifold and said outlet manifold; a bypass positioned between said inlet manifold and said outlet manifold; and a controller connected to said rungs and said bypass, wherein each of said rungs includes a reservoir and a plurality of valves, wherein said reservoir includes a sampler adapted to sample said material, wherein an inlet valve is positioned between each reservoir and said inlet manifold and an outlet valve is positioned between each reservoir and said outlet manifold, and wherein said inlet value, said outlet value, and said bypass are controlled by said controller.
- 20. The interface in claim 19, wherein said material comprises one of a fluid, a gas, and particles.
- 21. The interface in claim 19, wherein said controller comprises one of a remotely operated controller and a programmable controller.
- 22. The interface in claim 19, wherein said controller controls when material flows into and out of said reservoir.
- 23. The interface in claim 19, further comprising at least one pump connected to said inlet manifold, said pump being adapted to pump said material into said inlet manifold.
- 24. The interface in claim 19, further comprising at least one filter connected to said inlet manifold, said filter being adapted to prevent particles from contaminating said inlet manifold.
- 25. The interface in claim 19, wherein said outlet valve comprises a one-way valve adapted to prevent said material from passing from said outlet manifold to said reservoir.
- 26. The interface in claim 19, wherein each of said rungs includes sealing quick disconnects adjacent ends of said reservoir.
- 27. A material sampling interface comprising:
two inlet manifolds; one outlet manifold positioned between said inlet manifolds; a plurality of rungs connecting said inlet manifolds to said outlet manifold; a bypass positioned between said inlet manifolds and said outlet manifold; and a bypass valve on said bypass; wherein each of said rungs comprises:
piping connected to one of said inlet manifolds and connected to said outlet manifold; a removable reservoir connected to said piping; an inlet valve connected to said piping between said reservoir and one of said inlet manifolds; and an outlet valve connected to said piping between said reservoir and said outlet manifold, wherein said reservoir includes an internal removable sampler adapted to sample said material as said material is collected in said reservoir, and wherein said interface further comprises a controller connected to said bypass valve, said inlet valve, and said outlet valve, said controller being adapted to control flushing of said inlet manifold and filling of said reservoir.
- 28. The interface in claim 27, wherein said material comprises one of a fluid, a gas, and particles.
- 29. The interface in claim 27, wherein said controller comprises one of a remotely operated controller and a programmable controller.
- 30. The interface in claim 27, wherein said controller controls when material flows into and out of said reservoir.
- 31. The interface in claim 27, further comprising at least one pump connected to said inlet manifold, said pump being adapted to pump said material into said inlet manifold.
- 32. The interface in claim 27, further comprising at least one filter connected to said inlet manifold, said filter being adapted to prevent particles from contaminating said inlet manifold.
- 33. The interface in claim 27, wherein said outlet valve comprises a one-way valve adapted to prevent said material from passing from said outlet manifold to said reservoir.
- 34. The interface in claim 27, wherein each of said rungs includes sealing quick disconnects on said piping adjacent ends of said reservoir.
- 35. A water-borne submersible vehicle comprising:
a water inlet; at least one removable reservoir connected to said water inlet; and a removable sampler within said reservoir, wherein said sampler is adapted to sample material within said reservoir as said material is collected in said reservoir; and a water outlet connected to said reservoir.
- 36. The vehicle in claim 35, wherein said vehicle comprises one of a tethered vehicle, a remotely operated vehicle, and an autonomous vehicle.
- 37. The vehicle in claim 35, further comprising at least one pump connected to said water inlet, said pump being adapted to pump water into said reservoir.
- 38. The vehicle in claim 35, further comprising at least one filter connected to said water inlet, said filter being adapted to prevent particles from contaminating said reservoir.
- 39. The vehicle in claim 35, further comprising a one-way outlet valve connected between said water outlet and said reservoir, wherein said outlet valve prevents said material from passing from said water outlet to said reservoir.
- 40. The vehicle in claim 35, further comprising sealing quick disconnects adjacent ends of said reservoir.
- 41. A method of sampling a material, said method comprising:
mounting a sampler within a reservoir; mounting said reservoir within a material sampling interface; filling said reservoir with an inert material; transporting said material sampling interface to a first location; pumping material from outside said material sampling interface into said reservoir, wherein said pumping displaces said inert material from said reservoir; transporting said material sampling interface to a second location; removing said reservoir from said material sampling interface; removing said sampler from said reservoir; and analyzing chemical properties of said material maintained within said sampler.
- 42. The method in claim 41, wherein said first location is submarine and said second location is out of water.
- 43. The method in claim 41, further comprising agitating said reservoir after removing said reservoir from said material sampling interface, wherein said agitating process allows said sampler to absorb additional material.
- 44. The method in claim 41, wherein said pumping and said closing are controlled by a pre-programmed controller.
- 45. The method in claim 41, wherein said analyzing process comprises inserting said sampler into an analyzer.
