Claims
- 1. A sampling pump for withdrawing fluid from a pressurized source and outputting fluid to a container, the pump comprising:
- a pump body having a pump body inlet for fluid-tight communication with the pressurized source, and a pump body outlet for fluid-tight communication with the container;
- a plunger axially reciprocal within the pump body for varying the volume of a fluid receiving chamber within the pump body to receive fluid from the pressurized source and discharge fluid to the container during a complete pumping cycle;
- a pump inlet check valve for preventing fluid flow from the fluid receiving chamber to the pump body inlet;
- a discharge check valve for preventing fluid flow from the container to the fluid receiving chamber;
- an operator unit for reciprocating the plunger;
- a side body port within the pump body and in fluid communication with the pump body inlet, the side body port extending radially outward from the pump body to an outer surface of the pump body;
- a pressure regulator having a regulator housing structurally secured to the pump body, the pressure regulator having a regulator inlet within the side body port of the pump body and a regulator outlet port in fluid communication with the operator unit for supplying pressurized fluid under a controlled pressure to the operator unit, and a collar positioned about and sealingly rotatable with respect to the regulator housing, the collar having a low pressure fluid discharge port therein for hydraulically interconnecting the regulator and the operator unit.
- 2. The sampling pump as defined in claim 1, further comprising:
- an inflexible conduit line for interconnecting the fluid discharge port in the collar and the operator unit.
- 3. The sampling pump as defined in claim 1, wherein the collar further comprises:
- a condensate discharge port in fluid communication with the low pressure fluid discharge port for hydraulically interconnecting the pressure regulator with a sealed container for receiving condensate from the regulator.
- 4. The sampling pump as defined in claim 1, wherein the pressure regulator further comprises:
- a fluid separation member movable within the regulator housing and sealingly separating atmospheric pressure and fluid pressure within the regulator housing; and
- the regulator housing having threads for sealing engagement with mating threads on the pump body.
- 5. The sampling pump as defined in claim 1, wherein the pressure regulator further comprises:
- a fluid separation member movable within the regulator housing and sealingly separating atmospheric pressure and fluid pressure within the regulator housing;
- a cap threadably connected to the regulator housing; and
- a resealable seal normally for sealing engagement between the regulator housing and the cap to seal fluid pressure within the regulator housing, and for intermittently releasing fluid pressure from within the regulator housing upon partial unthreading of the cap with respect to the regulator housing to expel condensate from the regulator.
- 6. The fluid sampling pump as defined in claim 1, wherein the pressure regulator further comprises:
- a fluid separation member movable within the regulator housing and sealingly separating atmospheric pressure and fluid pressure within the regulator housing;
- a cap sealing connected to the regulator housing; and
- a plurality of fluid discharge ports within the cap for releasing fluids from engagement with the fluid separation member.
- 7. The sampling pump as defined in claim 1, further comprising:
- a fluid discharge, check valve for controlling fluid pressure between the pump body inlet and the container;
- a purge line interconnecting the pump body inlet and the pump body outlet; and
- a purge valve positioned along the purge line and having a valve member movable within the pump body for selectively controlling fluid flow from the pump body inlet to the pump body outlet.
- 8. The sampling pump as defined in claim 7, wherein the fluid discharge check valve is positioned opposite the purge valve with respect to a centerline of the pump in alignment with the plunger, and the pump body outlet being positioned within the pump body circumferentially between the purge valve and the fluid discharge check valve.
- 9. A sampling pump for withdrawing fluid from a pressurized source and outputting fluid to a container, the pump comprising:
- a pump body having a pump body inlet for fluid-tight communication with the pressurized source, and a pump body outlet for fluid-tight communication with the container;
- a plunger axially reciprocal within the pump body for varying the volume of a fluid receiving chamber within the pump body to receive fluid from the pressurized source and discharge fluid to the container during a complete pumping cycle;
- a pump inlet check valve for preventing fluid flow from the fluid receiving chamber to the pump body inlet;
- a discharge check valve for preventing fluid flow from the container to the fluid receiving chamber;
- an operator unit for reciprocating the plunger;
- a pressure regulator having a regulator housing with a regulator inlet in fluid communication with the pump body inlet and a regulator outlet port in fluid communication with the operator unit for supplying pressurized fluid under a controlled pressure to the operator unit;
- a fluid separation member movable within the regulator housing and sealing separating atmospheric pressure and fluid pressure within the regulator housing;
- a cap sealing connected to the regulator housing; and
- a plurality of fluid discharge ports within the cap for releasing fluids from engagement with the fluid separation member.
- 10. The sampling pump as defined in claim 9, wherein the pressure regulator further comprises:
- a resealable seal normally for sealing engagement between the regulator housing and the cap to seal fluid pressure within the regulator housing, and for intermittently releasing fluid pressure from within the regulator housing upon partial unthreading of the cap with respect to the regulator housing to expel condensate from the regulator.
- 11. The sampling pump as defined in claim 9, wherein the pressure regulator further comprises:
- a collar positioned about the regulator housing, the collar having a low pressure fluid discharge port therein for hydraulically interconnecting the pressure regulator and the operator unit.
- 12. The sampling pump as defined in claim 11, wherein the collar further comprises:
- a condensate discharge port in fluid communication with the low pressure fluid discharge port for hydraulically interconnecting the pressure regulator with a sealed container for receiving condensate from the regulator.
- 13. The sampling pump as defined in claim 9, further comprising:
- a fluid discharge check valve for controlling fluid pressure between the pump body inlet and the container;
- a purge line interconnecting the pump body inlet and the pump body outlet; and
- a purge valve positioned along the purge line and having a valve member movable within the pump body for selectively controlling fluid flow from the pump body inlet to the pump body outlet.
- 14. The sampling pump as defined in claim 13, wherein the fluid discharge check valve is positioned opposite the purge valve with respect to a centerline of the pump in alignment with the plunger, and the pump body outlet being positioned within the pump body circumferentially between the purge valve and the fluid discharge check valve.
- 15. A sampling pump for withdrawing fluid from a pressurized source and outputting fluid to a container, the pump comprising:
- a pump body having a pump body inlet for fluid-tight communication with the pressurized source, and a pump body outlet for fluid-tight communication with the container;
- a plunger axially reciprocal within the pump body for varying the volume of a fluid receiving chamber within the pump body to receive fluid from the pressurized source and discharge fluid to the container during a complete pumping cycle;
- a pump inlet check valve for preventing fluid flow from the fluid receiving chamber to the pump body inlet;
- a discharge check valve for preventing fluid flow from the container to the fluid receiving chamber;
- an operator unit for reciprocating the plunger;
- a side body port within the pump body and in fluid communication with the pump body inlet, the side body port extending radially outward from the pump body to an outer surface of the pump body;
- a pressure regulator having a regulator housing with a regulator inlet in fluid communication with the side body port and a regulator outlet port in fluid communication with the operator unit for supplying pressurized fluid under a controlled pressure to the operator unit;
- a fluid discharge check valve for controlling fluid pressure between the pump body inlet and the container;
- a purge line interconnecting the pump body inlet and the pump body outlet;
- a purge valve positioned along the purge line and having a valve member movable within the pump body for selectively controlling fluid flow from the pump body inlet to the pump body outlet; and
- the fluid discharge check valve is positioned opposite the purge valve with respect to a centerline of the pump in alignment with the plunger, and the pump body outlet being positioned within the pump body circumferentially between the purge valve and the fluid discharge check valve.
- 16. The sampling pump as defined in claim 15, wherein the pressure regulator further comprises:
- a cap threadably connected to the regulator housing; and
- a resealable seal normally for sealing engagement between the regulator housing and the cap to seal fluid pressure within the regulator housing, and for intermittently releasing fluid pressure from within the regulator housing upon partial unthreading of the cap with respect to the regulator housing to expel condensate from the regulator.
- 17. The sampling pump as defined in claim 15, wherein the pressure regulator further comprises:
- a fluid separation member movable within the regulator housing and sealingly separating atmospheric pressure and fluid pressure within the regulator housing;
- a cap sealingly connected to the regulator housing; and
- a plurality of fluid discharge ports within the cap for releasing fluids from engagement with the fluid separation member.
- 18. The sampling pump as defined in claim 15, wherein the pressure regulator further comprises:
- a collar positioned about the regulator housing, the collar having a low pressure fluid discharge port therein for hydraulically interconnecting the pressure regulator and the operator unit.
- 19. The sampling pump as defined in claim 18, wherein the collar further comprises:
- a condensate discharge port in fluid communication with the low pressure fluid discharge port for hydraulically interconnecting the pressure regulator with a sealed container for receiving condensate from the regulator.
- 20. The sampling pump as defined in claim 18, wherein the pressure regulator further comprises:
- a fluid separation member movable within the regulator housing and sealingly separating atmospheric pressure and fluid pressure within the regulator housing; and
- the regulator housing having threads for sealing engagement with mating threads on the pump body.
