Claims
- 1. A scented artificial firelog comprising:
a body formed from a combustible particulate matter; a binder material; and a plurality of scented pellets, wherein said scented pellets have an insect repellent scent applied to them and the scented pellets make up a sufficient portion of the firelog to produce a scent that can be smelled by a user when the firelog is heated.
- 2. The firelog as set forth in claim 1, wherein said scented pellets include a scented material.
- 3. The firelog as set forth in claim 2, wherein the scented material is a liquid.
- 4. The firelog as set forth in claim 3, wherein the scented material is citronella oil.
- 5. A scented artificial firelog comprising:
a body formed from a combustible particulate material; a binder material; and a plurality of scented pellets wherein said scented pellets make up from about 1 percent to about 10 percent by weight of the firelog wherein said scented pellets include an insect repellent scented material and said scented pellets retain said scented material until said scented pellets are heated.
- 6. The firelog as set forth in claim 5, wherein the scented material is a liquid.
- 7. The firelog as set forth in claim 6, wherein the scented material is citronella oil.
- 8. A scented artificial firelog comprising:
a body formed from a combustible particulate material; a binder material; and a plurality of scented pellets wherein said scented pellets include an insect repellent scented material and said scented pellets are a granular material that has been impregnated with said scented material, and said scented pellets make up from about 1 percent to about 10 percent by weight of the firelog.
- 9. The firelog as set forth in claim 8, wherein said scented material is a liquid.
- 10. The firelog as set forth in claim 9, wherein the scented material is citronella oil.
- 11. The firelog as set forth in claim 8, wherein said granular material is seed.
- 12. The firelog as set forth in claim 8, wherein said scented pellets are substantially evenly distributed throughout said firelog.
- 13. The firelog as set forth in claim 8, wherein said scented pellets explode upon heating.
- 14. The firelog as set forth in claim 13, wherein said scented pellets release a scent upon exploding.
- 15. The firelog as set forth in claim 8, wherein said scented pellets make up approximately 1 to 10 percent of the total weight of said firelog.
- 16. A method for manufacturing a scented artificial firelog comprising the steps of:
applying an insect repellent scent to pellets; admixing said scented pellets with combustible particulate material and binder material to form a component mixture; and forming the component mixture into a desired shape, wherein said scented pellets make up a sufficient proportion of the firelog to produce a scent that can be smelled by a user when the firelog is heated.
- 17. The method as set forth in claim 16, wherein said applying step includes the step of soaking the granular material in a scented liquid.
- 18. The method as set forth in claim 17, wherein the scented liquid is citronella oil.
- 19. The method as set forth in claim 16, wherein said applying step includes the step of soaking seed in a scented liquid.
- 20. The method as set forth in claim 19, wherein the scented liquid is citronella oil.
- 21. In an artificial firelog of the type having a body formed from particulate combustible material and binder material, the improvement comprising:
scented pellets distributed throughout the body, wherein said scented pellets have an insect repellent scent applied to them, and said scented pellets make up a sufficient proportion of the firelog to produce a scent that can be smelled by a user when the firelog is heated.
- 22. The improvement as set forth in claim 21, wherein the scent applied to the pellets includes citronella oil.
