The disclosure and prior art relates to comb devices and more particularly pertains to a new comb device for gripping hair when the hair is being cut.
An embodiment of the disclosure meets the needs presented above by generally comprising a first arm is that is selectively manipulated. A plurality of first prongs is provided and each of the first prongs is coupled to the first arm to engage hair in the convention of a comb. A second arm is pivotally coupled to the first arm wherein the second arm is selectively manipulated. The second arm is selectively urged into a first position having the second arm being oriented co-linear with the first arm. The second arm is selectively urged into a second position having the second arm being oriented at an angle with the first arm. A plurality of second prongs is provided and each of the second prongs is coupled to the second arm to engage hair in the convention of a comb.
There has thus been outlined, rather broadly, the more important features of the disclosure in order that the detailed description thereof that follows may be better understood, and in order that the present contribution to the art may be better appreciated. There are additional features of the disclosure that will be described hereinafter and which will form the subject matter of the claims appended hereto.
The objects of the disclosure, along with the various features of novelty which characterize the disclosure, are pointed out with particularity in the claims annexed to and forming a part of this disclosure.
The disclosure will be better understood and objects other than those set forth above will become apparent when consideration is given to the following detailed description thereof. Such description makes reference to the annexed drawings wherein:
With reference now to the drawings, and in particular to
As best illustrated in
A plurality of first prongs 28 is provided and each of the first prongs 28 is coupled to the first arm 12 to engage hair in the convention of a comb. Each of the first prongs 28 is positioned on the first surface 26 of the first half 20 of the first arm 12. The first prongs 28 are spaced apart from each other and are distributed along the entire length of the first half 20 of the first arm 12.
A second arm 30 is pivotally coupled to the first arm 12 such that each of the first 12 and second 30 arms forms a pair of scissors. The second arm 30 is selectively urged into a first position having the second arm 30 being oriented co-linear with the first arm 12. The second arm 30 is selectively urged into a second position has the second arm 30 being oriented at an angle with the first arm 12. The second arm 30 has a primary end 32 and a secondary end 34.
The second arm 30 has a second bend 36 thereon to define a primary portion 38 of the second arm 30 forming an angle with respect to a secondary portion 40 of the second arm 30. The primary portion 38 of the second arm 30 may be oriented at a right angle with respect to the secondary portion 40 of the second arm 30. The second bend 36 is positioned closer to the primary end 32 than the secondary end 34 and the secondary end 34 is rounded. The second arm 30 has a second aperture 42 extending therethrough to insertably receive a finger on hand. Moreover, the second aperture 42 is aligned with the secondary end 34 and the secondary portion 40 of the second arm 30 has a primary surface 44.
A plurality of second prongs 46 is provided and each of the second prongs 46 is coupled to the second arm 30 to engage hair in the convention of a comb. Each of the second prongs 46 is positioned on the primary surface 44 of the secondary portion 40 of the second arm 30. The second prongs 46 are spaced apart from each other and are distributed on the secondary portion 40. Each of the second prongs 46 is positioned between associated ones of the first prongs 28 when the second arm 30 is positioned in the first position. A pin 48 extends through each of the first arm 12 and the second arm 30 such that the second arm 30 is pivotally coupled to the first arm 12. The pin 48 extends through the secondary portion 40 of the second arm 30 and the second half 22 of the first arm 12. The first arm 12 may be offset with respect to the second arm 30 such that the first prongs 28 do not interlace with the second prongs 46 when the second arm 30 is positioned in the first position.
In an alternative embodiment 50 as shown in
In use, fingers on the hand are extended through each of the first 24 and second 42 apertures to manipulate to first arm 12 and the second arm 30. The second arm 30 is urged into the second position. The first 12 and second 30 arms are positioned proximate a head thereby facilitating each of the first 28 and second 46 prongs to engage hair on the head. The second arm 30 is urged into first position thereby facilitating the first 24 and second 46 prongs to close on the hair. The first 24 and second 30 arms are moved away from the head a selected distance along the hair. A pair of scissors, and any other hair cutting device, is positioned against each of the first 24 and second 30 arms to cut the hair at the selected distance. In this way the hair may be precisely cut and trimmed to the selected length.
With respect to the above description then, it is to be realized that the optimum dimensional relationships for the parts of an embodiment enabled by the disclosure, to include variations in size, materials, shape, form, function and manner of operation, assembly and use, are deemed readily apparent and obvious to one skilled in the art, and all equivalent relationships to those illustrated in the drawings and described in the specification are intended to be encompassed by an embodiment of the disclosure.
Therefore, the foregoing is considered as illustrative only of the principles of the disclosure. Further, since numerous modifications and changes will readily occur to those skilled in the art, it is not desired to limit the disclosure to the exact construction and operation shown and described, and accordingly, all suitable modifications and equivalents may be resorted to, falling within the scope of the disclosure. In this patent document, the word “comprising” is used in its non-limiting sense to mean that items following the word are included, but items not specifically mentioned are not excluded. A reference to an element by the indefinite article “a” does not exclude the possibility that more than one of the element is present, unless the context clearly requires that there be only one of the elements.
