Claims
- 1. A scissor jack assembly comprising:
a base member for resting the jack assembly against a substantially flat surface; a support bracket assembly; first and second lower arm members each having one end connected to said base plate; first and second upper arm members each having one end connected to said support bracket assembly; first and second trunnions connecting said upper arms with said lower arms; a rotatable shaft member extending through bores in said first and second trunnions; and at least one spacer for maintaining the position of said rotatable shaft within said upper and lower arm members.
- 2. A scissor jack assembly as recited in claim 1 wherein said shaft and said trunnions require no processing steps to accommodate said at least one spacer.
- 3. A scissor jack assembly as recited in claim I wherein said at least one spacer is positioned outboard of said trunnion.
- 4. A scissor jack assembly as recited in claim 1 wherein said upper and lower arm members are of an open channel construction having outer side walls.
- 5. A scissor jack assembly as recited in claim 1 wherein said at least one spacer is positioned on said rotatable shaft.
- 6. A scissor jack assembly as recited in claim 5 wherein said upper and lower arm members are of an open channel construction having outer side walls.
- 7. A scissor jack assembly as recited in claim 6 wherein said at least one spacer has a diameter slightly less than the distance between said side walls of said arm members.
- 8. A scissor jack assembly as recited in claim 1 wherein said at least one spacer is made of metal.
- 9. A scissor jack assembly as recited in claim 1 wherein said at least one spacer prevents substantial lateral movement of said shaft relative to said arm members.
- 10. A scissor jack assembly as recited in claim 1 wherein said at least one spacer substantially occupies the space between said rotatable shaft and an adjacent arm member.
- 11. A scissor jack assembly as recited in claim 1 wherein said at least one spacer further maintains the position of at least one trunnion.
- 12. A scissor jack assembly comprising:
a base member for resting the jack assembly against a substantially flat surface; a support bracket assembly; first and second lower arm members each having one end connected to said base plate; first and second upper arm members each having one end connected to said support bracket assembly; first and second trunnions connecting said upper arms with said lower arms; a rotatable shaft member extending through said first and second trunnions; and a means for maintaining the position of said rotatable shaft within said upper and lower arm members, said shaft and said trunnions requiring no processing steps to accommodate said positioning means.
- 13. A scissor jack assembly as recited in claim 12 wherein said maintaining means is/are positioned outboard of said trunnion.
- 14. A scissor jack assembly as recited in claim 12 wherein said upper and lower arm members are of an open channel construction having outer side walls.
- 15. A scissor jack assembly as recited in claim 12 wherein said maintaining means is/are positioned on said rotatable shaft.
- 16. A scissor jack assembly as recited in claim 12 wherein said maintaining means is made of metal.
- 17. A scissor jack assembly as recited in claim 12 wherein said maintaining means prevents substantial lateral movement of said shaft relative to said arm members.
- 18. A scissor jack assembly as recited in claim 12 wherein said maintaining means substantially occupies the space between said rotatable shaft and an adjacent arm member.
- 19. A scissor jack assembly as recited in claim 12 wherein said maintaining means further maintains the position of at least one trunnion.
