Claims
- 1. A screen printing machine for repeatedly applying paste to a web of material to be repeatedly printed, comprising means for repeatedly advancing the web through relatively short distances in a first direction along an elongated path; an assembly including a flat bed at one side of said path and a screen at the other side of said path opposite said bed; means for moving said assembly relative to said path with the web through longer second distances in said first direction subsequent to each advancement of the web through a short distance in said first direction; and at least one stationary squeegee adjacent said screen at said other side of said path to apply paste to the web through said screen during movement of the web with said assembly in said first direction.
- 2. The machine of claim 1, further comprising means for attracting the web of material to be printed to said bed by suction during at least one predetermined stage of advancement of the web along said path.
- 3. The machine of claim 1, wherein said advancing means includes a suction tube having spaced apart flanges which flank the web while the web is trained over said tube.
- 4. The machine of claim 1, further comprising a reciprocable carriage for said assembly.
- 5. The machine of claim 1, wherein said advancing means includes a rotary suction wheel.
- 6. The machine of claim 5, wherein said advancing means further comprises means for rotating said wheel in response to movement of said assembly, including a gear coaxial with said wheel and a toothed rack provided on said assembly and mating with said gear.
- 7. The machine of claim 6, further comprising means for transmitting torque from said gear to said wheel, including a freewheel.
- 8. The machine of claim 5, wherein said advancing means further comprises means for rotating said wheel, including a prime mover and a slip clutch between said prime mover and said wheel.
- 9. The machine of claim 5, wherein said wheel includes a rotary web contacting shell and said advancing means further comprises a prime mover for rotating said shell.
- 10. The machine of claim 1, further comprising means for pneumatically attracting the web to be printed to said bed, including a suction generating device and means for intermittently operating said suction generating device.
- 11. The machine of claim 1, wherein said assembly further comprises means for electromechanically coupling said bed with said screen.
- 12. The machine of claim 1, wherein said assembly further comprises means for drivingly connecting one of the parts including said bed and said screen to the other of said parts.
- 13. The machine of claim 1, wherein said assembly further comprises hydraulically operated means for coupling said screen with said bed.
- 14. The machine of claim 1, wherein said assembly further comprises means for hydromechanically coupling said screen with said bed.
