Claims
- 1. Apparatus for use in screening devices for separating a fibrous suspension, said apparatus comprising a tubular screen having a surface, predetermined height, a predetermined diameter and an effective screening height, said predetermined diameter being at least 1.8 times greater than said effective screening height and said tubular screen including partial blinding means for covering a portion of said surface of said tubular screen whereby said predetermined height is greater than said effective screening height.
- 2. The apparatus of claim 1 wherein said predetermined diameter is at least 2 times greater than said effective screening height.
- 3. The apparatus of claim 1 wherein said predetermined diameter is from 2.5 to 5 times greater than said effective screening height.
- 4. The apparatus of claim 1 wherein said predetermined diameter is at least 3 times greater than said effective screening height.
- 5. The apparatus of claim 1 wherein said predetermined diameter is at least 4 times greater than said effective screening height.
- 6. The apparatus of claim 1 wherein said partial blinding means comprises an integral, solid portion of said tubular screen which does not include any screen apertures.
- 7. The apparatus of claim 1 wherein said partial blinding means is welded to the outside surface of said tubular screen.
- 8. The apparatus of claim 1 wherein said partial blinding means is welded to the inside surface of said tubular screen.
- 9. Apparatus for separating a fibrous suspension comprising a screen housing, a tubular screen disposed within said screen housing, a rotatable rotor disposed within said screen housing for rotation therein, said rotatable rotor including pulsing means for providing pulses of said fibrous suspension to said tubular screen, inlet means for providing said fibrous suspension to said rotatable rotor, and outlet means for an accept portion of said fibrous suspension passing through said tubular screen, said tubular screen having a surface, a predetermined height, a predetermined diameter, and an effective screening height, said predetermined diameter being at least 1.8 times greater than said effective screening height and including partial blinding means for covering a portion of said surface of said tubular screen whereby said predetermined height is greater than said effective screening height.
- 10. The apparatus of claim 9 wherein said predetermined diameter is at least 2 times greater than said effective screening height.
- 11. The apparatus of claim 9 wherein said predetermined diameter is from 2.5 to 5 times greater than said effective screening height.
- 12. The apparatus of claim 9 wherein said predetermined diameter is at least 3 times greater than said effective screening height.
- 13. The apparatus of claim 9 wherein said predetermined diameter is at least 4 times greater than said effective screening height.
- 14. The apparatus of claim 9 wherein said tubular screen is stationarily mounted within said screen housing.
- 15. The apparatus of claim 9 wherein said partial blinding means comprises an integral solid portion of said tubular screen which does not include any screen apertures.
- 16. The apparatus of claim 9 wherein said partial blinding means is welded to the outside surface of said tubular screen.
- 17. The apparatus of claim 9 wherein said partial blinding means is welded to the inside surface of said tubular screen.
