Abstract
A scroll type air compressor provided by the invention utilizes an L-shape mounting frame for respectively mounting a compressor and a generator to a first mounting section and a second mounting section thereon. The generator is mounted to the second mounting section via a plate and is capable of being fine-tuned in displacement with respect to the plate, such that a second end surface of a second drive pulley of the generator can be made coplanar with a first end surface of a first drive pulley of the compressor. The position of the plate can also be adjusted up and down with respect to the second mounting section to a required position so that the distance between the drive pulleys of the generator and the compressor can be adjusted and the tension of a transmission belt can be determined.
Description
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
1. Field of the Invention

The invention provides an air compressor, and more particularly, to a scroll type air compressor equipped with fast installation and adjustment for the compressor and the generator using a reformed mounting frame.


2. Description of the Prior Art

When a scroll type air compressor is to be assembled, the generator/motor is mounted and fixed at the top of the compressor through a fixing frame, which has a number of adjusting screws, and by rotating the adjusting screws, the distance between the shaft center of the generator and the shaft center of the compressor can be adjusted. The transmission belt should be prevented from slipping when provided with enough tension through adjustment of the distance between shaft centers.


On the other hand, the core aligning issue between the two main components should be taken care of when assembling the scroll type air compressor, i.e., the end surfaces of the drive pulleys for both the generator and the compressor should be adjusted to locate at the same plane before the tension of the transmission belt is adjusted through the adjusting screws.


Such design, however, has difficulty assembling and maintaining the air compressor:

    • 1. Core aligning of the end surfaces of the drive pulleys for both the generator and the compressor is not an easy job. It always takes additional tool to keep the generator and the compressor in place before they can be assembled and certainly levels up the complexity of follow-up maintenance.
    • 2. It takes fastening three screws at the same time to adjust the tension of the transmission belt on the frame. Once core aligning of the end surfaces of the drive pulleys is finished, the distance between the compressor and the generator cannot be adjusted, for the tension of the transmission belt, without loosening the screws again, which may cause misalignment of the end surfaces of the drive pulleys.


SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

According to an embodiment of the invention, a scroll type air compressor with a reformed mounting frame is provided for fast installation and adjustment for the compressor and the generator. The scroll type air compressor includes a mounting frame, a compressor, a plate, a generator, and a transmission belt. The mounting frame includes a first mounting section and a second mounting section. The compressor is mounted to the first mounting section of the mounting frame. The compressor includes a first drive pulley having a first end surface perpendicular to the first mounting section when the compressor is mounted to the first mounting section. The plate is fine-tunable in displacement with respect to the second mounting section and is mounted to the second mounting section. The generator is mounted to the second mounting section via the plate. The generator includes a second drive pulley having a second end surface perpendicular to the first mounting section when the generator is mounted to the second mounting section. The generator is fine-tunable in displacement with respect to the plate in such a way that the first end surface is coplanar with the second end surface. The transmission belt is engaged with both the first drive pulley and the second drive pulley. The generator drives the compressor to operate by driving the transmission belt. The plate is fine-tuned in displacement with respect to the second mounting section so that the transmission belt is adjusted to bear a predetermined tension.


According to an embodiment of the invention, the first mounting section has orientation of a first direction and the second mounting section has orientation of a second direction. The first direction is a rotation and axial direction of the compressor and the generator.


According to an embodiment of the invention, the generator is fine-tunable in displacement with respect to the plate along the first direction, the plate is fine-tunable in displacement with respect to the second mounting section along the second direction, and the generator drives the transmission belt along the second direction.


According to an embodiment of the invention, the second mounting section of the mounting frame includes a plurality of longitudinal holes extending along the second direction and the plate along with the generator are mounted to the second mounting section by using a plurality of screws passing through the plurality of longitudinal holes.


According to an embodiment of the invention, the mounting frame is an L-shape frame, with the first mounting section and the second mounting section perpendicular to each other.


According to an embodiment of the invention, the scroll type air compressor further includes a fixing frame fixed to both the compressor and the generator.


By using the mounting frame and the plate in the scroll type air compressor where the mounting frame provides horizontal and vertical aligning convenience for assembling, the relative position between the compressor and the generator is easy to determine. Effort for core aligning of the compressor and the generator can be extensively reduced since only axial adjustment is required. Additionally, no further special tool is needed in order to assemble the scroll type air compressor of the invention. The tension of the transmission belt can be determined by directly adjusting the up-and-down position of the plate. It is also beneficial to simply remove the compressor for replacement along, leaving the generator on the mounting frame, when the compressor needs to be replaced.


These and other objectives of the present invention will no doubt become obvious to those of ordinary skill in the art after reading the following detailed description of the preferred embodiment that is illustrated in the various figures and drawings.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION

Please refer to FIG. 1. FIG. 1 is a schematic diagram of a scroll type air compressor according to the invention. The scroll type air compressor 1 includes amounting frame 10, a compressor 20, a generator 30, a transmission belt 40, and a plate 50 (or a flange). The generator 30 and the compressor 20 are respectively mounted to the mounting frame 10 where the generator 30 drives the compressor 20 to operate/provide compressed air by driving the transmission belt 40.


Please refer to FIG. 2 to FIG. 4. FIG. 2 is a schematic diagram showing an exploded view of the components of scroll type air compressor, FIG. 3 is a schematic diagram of a front view of the scroll type air compressor in FIG. 1, and FIG. 4 is a schematic diagram of a side view of the scroll type air compressor in FIG. 1. For easy core aligning and providing proper tension for the transmission belt 40 when configuring the generator 30 and the compressor 20, in an embodiment of the invention, the scroll type air compressor 1 uses an L-shape frame as the mounting frame 10. The mounting frame 10 includes a first mounting section 11 and a second mounting section 12 perpendicular to each other as shown in FIG. 4. In other words, the first mounting section 11 and the second mounting section 12 are respectively presented as the two portions of the L-shape frame. Mounted to the first mounting section 11 of the mounting frame 10, the compressor 20 includes a first drive pulley 21 having a first end surface 22. The generator 30 includes a second drive pulley 31 having a second end surface 32.


The transmission belt 40 engages with both the first drive pulley 21 and the second drive pulley 31 and the generator 30 drives the compressor 20 to operate by driving the transmission belt 40. It is therefore a need for the first drive pulley 21 of the compressor 20 to be core aligning with the second drive pulley 31 of the generator 30, i.e., aligning of the end surfaces of both the first drive pulley 21 and the second drive pulley 31. To install the compressor 20 and the generator 30 to the mounting frame 10, the first end surface 22 of the first drive pulley 21 and the second end surface 32 of the second drive pulley 31 should be in parallel with each other and coplanar. In an embodiment of the invention, the L-shape mounting frame 10 provides a foundation of easy parallel and perpendicular adjustments for the major components. Please refer to FIG. 1 and FIG. 4. The first mounting section 11 has orientation of a first direction D1 and the second mounting section 12 has orientation of a second direction D2, and the first direction D1 is perpendicular to the second direction D2, just as the first mounting section 11 is perpendicular to the second mounting section 12 as mentioned previously. Additionally, for the embodiments of the invention, the first direction D1 is a rotation and axial direction of the compressor 20 and the generator 30, whereas the generator 30 drives the transmission belt 40 to travel along the second direction D2. As the compressor 20 mounted to the first mounting section 11, the first end surface of the first drive pulley 21 of the compressor 20 is made perpendicular to the first mounting section 11.


Please refer to FIG. 2 and FIG. 3. The generator 30 is mounted to the second mounting section 12 via the plate 50 and since the first mounting section 11 is perpendicular to the second mounting section 12, the second end surface 32 of the second drive pulley 31 of the generator 30 also has perpendicular relation to the first mounting section 11. The generator 30 is made fine-tunable in displacement with respect to the plate 50 along the first direction D1. Mounted to the second mounting section 12 and before completely secured, the generator 30 and the plate 50 can be adjusted relatively in displacement and, with the help of a straight tool such as a ruler, the second end surface 32 of the second drive pulley 31 of the generator 30 can be adjusted until it is coplanar with the first end surface 22 of the first drive pulley 21 of the compressor 20. Core aligning between the generator 30 and the compressor 20 is easily completed.


Please keep referring to FIG. 2 and FIG. 3. Once the generator 30 is core aligning with the compressor 20, adjustment of the tension of the transmission belt 40 comes next. In the embodiment, the plate 50 is made fine-tunable in displacement with the second mounting section 12 along direction D2. More specifically, the second mounting section 12 has a plurality of longitudinal holes 13 extending along the second direction D2 and by passing a plurality of screws 14 through the longitudinal holes 13, the plate 50 and the generator 30 can be fixedly mounted to the second mounting section 12. After the core aligning of the generator 30 and the compressor 20 and before the screws 14 are completely fastened to the second mounting section 12, the plate 50 and the generator 30 are slightly moveable or fine-tunable in displacement with respect to the second mounting section 12 along the second direction D2 so that the transmission belt 40 may be adjusted to bear a predetermined tension. Afterwards, fastening the screws 14 to the second mounting section 12 completes the assembling work of the scroll type air compressor 1. Furthermore, to effectively eliminate vibration at the power transmission direction (the second direction D2) during the operation of the scroll type air compressor 1, the scroll type air compressor 1 may further use a fixing frame 60 fixed to both the compressor 20 and the generator 30 after the compressor 20 and the generator 30 are respectively mounted to the mounting frame 10 and done with core aligning and tension adjustment for the transmission belt 40. Structural robustness will be enhanced among the compressor 20, the generator 30, and the mounting frame 10 with the inclusion of the fixing frame 60.


The scroll type air compressor provided by the invention utilizes an L-shape mounting frame for respectively mounting the compressor and the generator to the first mounting section and the second mounting section, which are perpendicular to each other. The generator is mounted to the second mounting section via the plate and is capable of being fine-tuned in displacement with respect to the plate, such that the second end surface of the second drive pulley of the generator can be made coplanar with the first end surface of the first drive pulley of the compressor in such a way to finish core-aligning adjustment of the compressor and the generator. The position of the plate can also be adjusted up and down with respect to the second mounting section to a required position so that the distance between the drive pulleys of the generator and the compressor can be adjusted and the tension of a transmission belt can be determined.


Those skilled in the art will readily observe that numerous modifications and alterations of the device and method may be made while retaining the teachings of the invention. Accordingly, the above disclosure should be construed as limited only by the metes and bounds of the appended claims.

Claims
  • 1. A scroll type air compressor, comprising: a mounting frame comprising a first mounting section and a second mounting section;a compressor, mounted to the first mounting section of the mounting frame, the compressor comprising a first drive pulley having a first end surface perpendicular to the first mounting section when the compressor is mounted to the first mounting section;a plate, fine-tunable in displacement with respect to the second mounting section and mounted to the second mounting section;a generator, mounted to the second mounting section via the plate, the generator comprising a second drive pulley having a second end surface perpendicular to the first mounting section when the generator is mounted to the second mounting section, the generator being fine-tunable in displacement with respect to the plate in such a way that the first end surface is coplanar with the second end surface; anda transmission belt engaged with both the first drive pulley and the second drive pulley, the generator driving the compressor to operate by driving the transmission belt;wherein the plate is fine-tuned in displacement with respect to the second mounting section so that the transmission belt is adjusted to bear a predetermined tension.
  • 2. The scroll type air compressor of claim 1, wherein the first mounting section has orientation of a first direction and the second mounting section has orientation of a second direction; wherein the first direction is a rotation and axial direction of the compressor and the generator.
  • 3. The scroll type air compressor of claim 2, wherein the generator is fine-tunable in displacement with respect to the plate along the first direction, the plate is fine-tunable in displacement with respect to the second mounting section along the second direction, and the generator drives the transmission belt along the second direction.
  • 4. The scroll type air compressor of claim 2, wherein the second mounting section of the mounting frame comprises a plurality of longitudinal holes extending along the second direction and the plate along with the generator are mounted to the second mounting section by using a plurality of screws passing through the plurality of longitudinal holes.
  • 5. The scroll type air compressor of claim 1, wherein the mounting frame is an L-shape frame, with the first mounting section and the second mounting section perpendicular to each other.
  • 6. The scroll type air compressor of claim 1, further comprising a fixing frame fixed to both the compressor and the generator.
