Claims
- 1- A bicycle seating assembly for alternately seating a rider in a first or second position on a bicycle having pedals comprising:
first and second seating members,said second seating member being smaller than said first seating member, first means for mounting said first seating member in said first position which is above the bicycle pedals at a distance such that the feet of the bicycle rider just reach the pedals with the rider's legs fully extended, and second means for mounting said second seating member in said second position at a distance from the ground to permit at least one of the rider's feet to reach the ground beneath the bicycle, said first and second seating members being integrated into a unitary assembly) said first means for mounting said first seating member including a pivotal mount which permits tiltable motion of said first seating member, whereby in said first position the rider can efficiently pedal the bicycle and in said second position, the rider can readily hold the bicycle at rest.
- 2- The seat assembly of claim 1 wherein said second position is rearward-of the first position.
- 3- The seat assembly of claim 1 wherein said second position is forward of the first position.
- 4- The seat assembly of claim 1 and further including bar means attached to the frame of the bicycle for supporting said second seat member above the rear wheel of the bicycle.
- 5- A bicycle seating assembly for alternately seating a rider in a first or second position on a bicycle having pedals comprising:
first and second seating members,said second seating member being smaller than said first seating member, first means for mounting said first seating member in said first position which is above the bicycle pedals at a distance such that the feet of the bicycle rider Just reach the pedals with the rider's legs fully extended, second means for mounting said second seating member in said second position at a distance from the ground to permit at least one of the rider's feet to reach the ground beneath the bicycle, said first and second seating members being integrated into a unitary assembly, said first and second mounting means comprising a central longitudinal bar portion, a first vertical bar portion extending from said central portion for supporting said first seating member, and a second vertical bar portion extending from said central bar portion for supporting said second seating member, said first vertical bar portion being substantially longer than said second vertical bar portion, said first means for mounting said first seating member comprises a pivotal mount for enabling tiltable motion of said first seating member, whereby in the first position, the rider can efficiently pedal the bicyle and in the second position, the rider can readily hold the bicycle at rest.
- 6- A seat assembly for supporting a pair of seating members on a bicycle having pedals comprising:
a central longitudinal bar portion, first and second vertical bar portions extending substantially normally from said central longitudinal bar portion in a second direction opposite to said first direction, means for supporting said support bar for vertical adjustment on said bicycle with said first vertical bar portion being positioned above the bicycle pedals and the second vertical bar portion being positioned over the bicycle rear wheel, said first vertical bar position extending upwardly from said central bar portion a substantially greater distance than said second vertical bar portion, means for tiltably supporting one of said seating members on said first vertical bar portion, and means for fixedly supporting the other of said seating members on said second vertical bar portion, whereby the first seating member is at a height such that when on said seating member, the bicycle rider's feet are fully extended when they are on the pedals and the second seating member is at a height such that when on said second seating member at least one of the bicycle rider's feet reaches the ground.
- 7- The seat assembly of claim 6 wherein said seat assembly comprises a single unit having seating members vertically and longitudinally separated from each other.
- 8- The seat assembly of claim 6 wherein said horizontal and vertical bar portions are formed in a unitary structure.
- 9- The seat assembly of claim 6 wherein said longitudinal central bar portion is attached to said support bar for longitudinal positioning relative thereto.
- 10- The seat assembly of claim 6 wherein the angle between said support bar and second vertical bar is greater than ninety degrees.
- 11- The seat assembly of claim 6 and further including means for rotatably supporting said one of said seating members.
