This invention relates to vehicle seats and more particularly to a device for enabling persons to more comfortably reach the operational pedals of a golf cart or other vehicle.
Currently, many vehicles, particularly golf carts and heavy equipment, have fixed seats which makes it difficult for shorter persons, especially women, to reach the operational pedals of such vehicles. As a result, it is nearly impossible or at least very uncomfortable for such persons to operate golf carts and similar vehicles as a person must recline substantially or move forward his or her body in order to reach the operational pedals of the vehicle.
Thus, a need exists for a device that will enable one to more comfortably reach the pedal of golf carts and other vehicles having fixed position seats.
The relevant prior art includes the following patents:
None of the above prior art discloses a device having the same structure or purpose as Applicant's invention.
The primary object of the present invention is to provide a device to enable shorter persons to reach the operational pedals of a vehicle.
Another object of the present invention is to provide such a device that does not require modifications to a seat of the vehicle.
A further object of the present invention is to provide such a device that is adjustable in position against the backrest of the seat of a vehicle.
An even further object of the present invention is to provide such a device that is securable to the motor vehicle.
An additional object of the present invention is to provide such a device that is removable when not needed.
The present invention accomplishes the above and other objects by providing a seat back adjustment device having a cushion of a predetermined size and thickness and a top, bottom, and two sides which rest against a front of the seat back of a vehicle. The cushion has a strap having a proximal end attached to the top of the cushion for maintaining the cushion in the vertical position against the front of the seat back of the vehicle. The cushion has a means of securing it in the vehicle located at a distal end of the strap. The means for securing the cushion on the distal end of the strap may comprise a grommet for attachment to a floor surface in back of the backrest of the vehicle. Another means of securing the cushion is by having the distal end of the strap attached around the seat backrest to the bottom of the cushion. The device further has a buckle to allow the length of the strap to be adjusted so as to position the cushion at a particular vertical height above the seat and/or to remove the cushion when it is not needed.
The above and other objects, features and advantages of the present invention should become even more readily apparent to those skilled in the art upon a reading of the following detailed description in conjunction with the drawings wherein there is shown and described illustrative embodiments of the invention.
In the following detailed description, reference will be made to the attached drawings in which:
