The accompanying drawings, which are included to provide a further understanding of the invention and are incorporated in and constitute a part of this application, illustrate embodiment(s) of the invention and together with the description serve to explain the principle of the invention. In the drawings:
A preferred embodiment according to the present invention will now be explained with reference to the accompanying drawings.
The present invention relates to a functional seat for use in a conventional baby carriage 10 including a foldable frame 12 having two pairs of front and rear wheels 14 and being foldable to reduce its volume for convenient carrying and keeping it.
The frame 12 of the baby carriage 10 is additionally provided with a seat 20 which can be set to the frame at a slope suitable to support an infant sitting or lying on the seat. The construction of the seat is improved to secure free outdoor activity for the winter season and to allow the infant to feel the stable.
The seat 20 includes a seat plate 22 supporting the hips of the infant and a backrest plate 24 for supporting the back of the infant. The seat plate 22 and the backrest plate 24 are foldably engaged to each other by a coupling member 30 such as a rubber band having good elasticity.
The seat 20 has a desired shape so that it is generally used in the baby carriage 20 which is made in various sizes. The seat plate 22 is made in a heart shape when shown from a top side. The seat plate 22 has a recessed portion 22a at a front center, and is adapted to be properly installed on any construction of the frame 12 of the carriage 10.
The backrest plate 24 is made in a convex shape when shown from a front side, and has a pair of bosses 24a protruding from both sides of an upper portion, in which loudspeakers are built in the bosses 24a.
The seat plate 22 and the backrest plate 24 are provided with fastening holes 25 for fastening the seat 20 to the frame 10 by safety belts of the baby carriage.
The seat 20 is made of a material having impact resistance, water resistance, and heat resistance, such as urethane.
Heating elements 26 and 28 are installed in the seat plate 22 and the backrest plate 24. A plane heater is used as the heating element in this embodiment.
The heating elements 26 and 28 are supplied with a power from a rechargeable battery 23. Overheat of the heating elements is prevented by a temperature sensor 21, and the heating elements are set as a temperature suitable for the infant.
A pair of loudspeakers 32 are built in the both bosses 24a of the backrest plate 24. The loudspeakers receive an audio signal from a sound apparatus 34 mounted in a proper position of the baby carriage 10 to output the audio signal to the infant sitting on the baby carriage, thereby being helpful to the development of intelligence and sensitivity and giving the sense of stability. The sound apparatus 34 and the heating elements 26 and 28 are electrically connected to a controller 33 so that the sound apparatus 34 and the heating elements 26 and 28 are controlled by the controller 33.
With the above description, the seat for use in the baby carriage according to the present invention has the following advantages.
Since the plane heaters are built in the seat plate and the backrest plate for keeping the infant warm for the winter season, the infant can enjoy free outdoor activity.
Also, the loudspeakers built in left and right sides of the backrest plate for outputting the audio signal to the infant, thereby stimulating brain cells of the infant and thus being helpful to the development of intelligence and sensitivity and giving the sense of stability.
Since the seat of the present invention has the fastening bands for fixing the seat to the frame of the baby carriage, the seat can be easily used in a conventional baby carriage as an auxiliary means.
The forgoing embodiment is merely exemplary and is not to be construed as limiting the present invention. The present teachings can be readily applied to other types of apparatus. The description of the present invention is intended to be illustrative, and not to limit the scope of the claims. Many alternatives, modifications, and variations will be apparent to those skilled in the art.
