Claims
- 1. An automobile vehicle passenger seat comprising:
- a frame element molded from relatively high density, rigid foam, said rigid foam having an indentation force deflection at 25% deflection of from about 500 pounds to about 4,000 pounds when measured pursuant to ASTM 3574-B.sub.1 ;
- vehicle anchorage means connected to the frame element, said vehicle anchorage means and said frame element for anchoring said seat to the automobile vehicle; and
- a seat body comprising a resilient material fixed with respect to the frame element.
- 2. A passenger seat according to claim 1 wherein said resilient material comprises foam.
- 3. A passenger seat according to claim 1 wherein said resilient material comprises a fibrous material.
- 4. A passenger seat according to claim 1 wherein said frame element is bonded to said seat body.
- 5. A passenger seat according to claim 1 further comprising at least one pelvic support element connected to said frame element.
- 6. A passenger seat according to claim 5 wherein said at least one pelvic support element and said frame element are integrally molded as a unitary element.
- 7. A passenger seat according to claim 5 wherein said vehicle anchorage means includes an anchor portion to engage a portion of the automobile vehicle and an attachment portion embedded in said at least one pelvic support element.
- 8. A passenger seat according to claim 1 wherein said vehicle anchorage means includes an anchor portion to engage a portion of the automobile vehicle and an attachment portion intended to be embedded in said frame element.
- 9. A passenger seat according to claim 8 wherein said attachment portion comprises two S-shaped arms each connected to a different end of said attachment portion.
- 10. A passenger seat according to claim 1 further comprising a trim cover.
- 11. A passenger seat according to claim 10 wherein said trim cover is attached to said seat by fasteners which engage said frame element.
- 12. A passenger seat according to claim 10 wherein said trim cover is bonded to said resilient material.
- 13. An automobile vehicle passenger seat comprising:
- a frame element molded from relatively high density, rigid foam;
- vehicle anchorage means connected to the frame element, said vehicle anchorage means and said frame element for anchoring said seat to the automobile vehicle; and
- a seat body comprising a resilient material fixed with respect to the frame element, said resilient material being selected from a group consisting of foam and fibrous material, said rigid foam having an indentation force deflection at 25% deflection of about 150 to about 4,000 pounds when measured pursuant to ASTM 3574-B.sub.1.
- 14. A passenger seat according to claim 13 wherein said rigid foam has an indentation force deflection at 25% deflection of from about 500 to about 4,000 pounds when measured pursuant to ASTM 3574-B.sub.1.
- 15. A passenger seat according to claim 13 wherein said vehicle anchorage means includes an anchor portion to engage a portion of the automobile vehicle and an attachment portion embedded in said frame element.
- 16. A passenger seat according to claim 13 wherein the resilient material comprises foam.
- 17. A passenger seat according to claim 13 wherein the frame element is bonded to the seat body.
- 18. A passenger seat according to claim 13 further comprising at least one pelvic support element connected to said frame element.
- 19. A passenger seat according to claim 18 wherein said at least one pelvic support element and said frame element are integrally molded as a unitary element.
- 20. A passenger seat according to claim 18 wherein said vehicle anchorage means includes an anchor portion to engage a portion of the automobile vehicle and an attachment portion embedded in said at least one pelvic support element.
- 21. A passenger seat according to claim 13 further comprising a trim cover.
- 22. A passenger seat according to claim 21 wherein said trim cover is attached to said seat by fasteners which engage said frame element.
- 23. A passenger seat according to claim 21 wherein said trim cover is bonded to said resilient material.
- 24. An automobile vehicle passenger seat comprising:
- a frame element molded from relatively high density, rigid polyurethane foam having an indentation force deflection at 25% deflection of from about 500 pounds to about 4,000 pounds when measured pursuant to ASTM 3574-B.sub.1 ;
- vehicle anchorage means connected to the frame element, said vehicle anchorage means including an anchor portion to engage a portion of the automobile vehicle and an attachment portion embedded in said frame element, said vehicle anchorage means and said frame element for anchoring said seat to the automotive vehicle; and
- a seat body comprising a resilient polyurethane foam fixed with respect to the frame element.
- 25. A passenger seat according to claim 24 further comprising at least one pelvic support element connected to said frame element.
- 26. A passenger seat according to claim 25 wherein said at least one pelvic support element and said frame element are integrally molded as a unitary element.
- 27. A passenger seat according to claim 24 further comprising a trim cover.
- 28. A passenger seat according to claim 27 wherein said trim cover is attached to said seat by fasteners which engage said frame element.
- 29. A passenger seat according to claim 24 wherein said trim cover is bonded to said resilient material.
- 30. A passenger seat according to claim 24 wherein the frame element is bonded to the seat body.
