The invention relates to a seating device used in conjunction with seats, such as bleachers and the like.
In one embodiment, the invention provides a seating device having a top portion, a bottom portion, a front portion, a rear portion, a first side portion, and a second side portion. The seating device including a foam core; a water repellant cover surrounding the foam core; a handle attached to the water repellant cover on the front portion; a pocket integral with the water repellant cover, the pocket located on the top portion, the pocket having an opening located toward the front portion; and a first strap and a second strap, each having a first end and a second end. The first ends coupled to the water repellant cover at a connection point located along the rear portion and the top portion. The second ends configured to releasably couple to the first ends at the connection point via a fastener.
In another embodiment the invention provides a seating device having a top portion, a bottom portion, a front portion, a rear portion, a first side portion, and a second side portion. Wherein during transporting of the seating device, the first strap and the second strap are configured to wrap around the seating device along the top portion, the front portion, the bottom portion, and the rear portion, and the second ends are configured to couple to the first ends at the connection point. Wherein when the seating device is secured to a seat, the bottom portion is in contact with the seat and the first strap and the second strap are configured to wrap around the seat and the second ends are configured to couple to the first ends at the connection point.
Other aspects of the invention will become apparent by consideration of the detailed description and accompanying drawings.
Before any embodiments of the invention are explained in detail, it is to be understood that the invention is not limited in its application to the details of construction and the arrangement of components set forth in the following description or illustrated in the following drawings. The invention is capable of other embodiments and of being practiced or of being carried out in various ways.
A seating device 10 is illustrated in
Specifically, the device 10 includes a foam core 12 of a particular geometry to complement the bleacher geometry, such as most commonly a rectangular shape. Foam such as Styrofoam or Polyurethane foam, can be used. The foam core 12 should be of a firmness to strive to optimize a person's comfort when sitting upon it.
The foam core 12 is surrounded by a water repellent cover 14. Many different materials can be used for the cover 14 such as SaturaMax fabrics, including but not limited to, WeatherMax 80, WeatherMax LT, WeatherMax FR, or other such materials. The cover 14 is preferably sewn around the core 12 but could also removably surround the core 12 such as with a fastener-like tape, glue, hook and loop material, zippers, snaps, and the like.
The cover 14 preferably includes a handle or loop 16 to aid in the easy transportation of the seating device 10.
The cover 14 preferably includes a pocket 18 for the storage of items such as tickets, programs, brochures, and/or personal items such as gloves, hand-warmers, and the like. The pocket 18 is preferably located on and integral with the cover 14 in the orientation shown in
The seating device 10 includes elements to removably secure the device 10 to the bleacher, such as straps 20 and 22. The device 10 is shown with two straps 20 and 22 but fewer straps or more straps could also be utilized. The straps 20 and 22 are preferably fabricated of hook and loop materials but other materials could also be used. The straps 20 and 22 are dimensioned such as to be long enough to surround a seat (e.g., a bleacher) and return to the device 10. In this position on the seat, the straps 20 and 22 removably secure themselves to the cover 14 at a connection point with a fastener 24 such as hook and loop tape; however, other fasteners could also be utilized, such as but not limited to snaps, buttons, and zippers. When the straps 20 and 22 are not in use securing the device 10 to a seat, they can be positioned around the cover 14 as shown in
To use the seating device 10, the device 10 is transported to a seat, or bleacher, 26 such as with the handle 16. The straps 20 and 22 are unsecured from the cover 14 so they hang from the cover 14. The device 10 can then be positioned on the seat 26 and the straps 20 and 22 moved to surround the seat 26 as shown in
Thus, the invention provides, among other things, a seating device. Various features and advantages of the invention are set forth in the following claims.
