Claims
- 1. A hinge for hingedly coupling at least a first member to a second member, said hinge comprising:
- a) a first portion having:
- i) a front wall and a back wall joined by perpendicular sidewalls,
- ii) a first tongue extending from said front wall of said first portion, and
- iii) a first groove defined by said front wall of said first portion;
- b) a second portion hingedly coupled to said first portion having:
- i) a front wall and a back wall joined by perpendicular sidewalls,
- ii) a second tongue extending from said front wall of said second portion, said first groove being shaped to accommodate said second tongue, and
- iii) a second groove defined by said front wall of said second portion and shaped to accommodate said first tongue; and
- c) an axis around which said first and second tongues pivot to hingedly couple.
- 2. A hinge according to claim 1, further comprising:
- a socket formed within said first portion; and
- a pintle member extending from said second portion, said pintle member configured to pivot within said socket.
- 3. A hinge according to claim 1, wherein said first and second tongues are adjacent to one another.
- 4. A hinge according to claim 1, wherein:
- said first groove is partially defined by an inner surface of said first tongue; and
- said second groove is partially defined by an outer surface of said second tongue.
- 5. A hinge according to claim 1, wherein:
- said first tongue includes a first curved edge;
- said second tongue includes a second curved edge; and
- said first and second curved edges cooperate to limit separation of said first and second portions.
- 6. A hinge according to claim 1, further comprising:
- a third tongue extending from said first portion proximate said first groove; and
- a third groove formed in said second portion proximate said second tongue, said third groove being shaped to accommodate said third tongue.
- 7. A hinge according to claim 6, wherein:
- said first groove is partially defined by an outer surface of said third tongue; and
- said third groove is partially defined by an inner surface of said second tongue.
- 8. A hinge according to claim 1, further comprising:
- a first seal located at said front wall of said first portion; and
- a second seal located at said front wall of said second portion; wherein
- said first and second seals engage when said hinge is in a closed position.
- 9. A hinge for hingedly coupling at least a first member to a second member, said hinge comprising:
- a) a first portion having a first tongue extending from said first portion and a socket formed within said first portion;
- b) a second portion having a first groove formed within said second portion and shaped to accommodate said first tongue, and a pintle member extending from said second portion and configured to pivot within said socket; and
- c) an axis around which said socket and said pintle member pivot.
- 10. A hinge according to claim 9, wherein said socket terminates at a lip configured to limit relative rotation between said first and second portions.
- 11. A hinge according to claim 9, wherein said pintle member has an outer surface and a portion of said outer surface is approximately concentric with said axis.
- 12. A hinge according to claim 9, further comprising:
- a second tongue extending from said second portion; and
- a second groove defined by said first portion and shaped to accommodate said second tongue.
- 13. A hinge according to claim 12, wherein said first and second tongues are adjacent to one another.
- 14. A hinge according to claim 9, wherein:
- said pintle member has an outer surface that partially defines said first groove; and
- said first tongue has an inner surface that partially defines said socket.
