Claims
- 1. A secure property device comprising a magnetic tape, a matte finish coating thereon and at least one radiant energy reflecting element adhered to the matte finish coating, said matte finish coating comprising a polymeric coating deposited from a dispersion in a non-aqueous continuous phase of a member selected from the group consisting of polymers of lower alkyl acrylates and lower alkyl methacrylates.
- 2. A secure property device according to claim 1 wherein said continuous phase is an organic liquid having a hydrogen bonding index, .gamma., greater than 10, a dipole moment, .mu., between 0.5 and 2.5 and a solubility parameter, .delta., less than 8.
- 3. A secure property device according to claim 1 wherein said polymer is a copolymer of butyl acrylate, methyl methacrylate and butyl methacrylate.
- 4. A secure property device according to claim 1 wherein said continuous phase is a member selected from the group consisting of diethyl ether and a mixture of about 73 percent di-n-butyl ether and 27 percent ethanol.
- 5. A secure property device according to claim 1 wherein said radiant energy reflecting element is a vacuum deposited thin metallic film.
- 6. A secure property document comprising a secure property device according to claim 1 wherein said radiant energy reflection element is adhered to a substrate.
- 7. A secure property document according to claim 6 wherein said substrate is a card.
- 8. A secure property document according to claim 6 wherein said substrate comprises polyvinyl chloride.
- 9. A secure property document according to claim 6 wherein said substrate comprises a copolymer of vinyl chloride and vinyl acetate.
- 10. A secure property document according to claim 6 wherein said radiant energy reflecting element is a vacuum deposited thin metallic film.
- 11. A secure property document according to claim 6 wherein said secure property device is adhered to said substrate by means of an adhesive.
- 12. A secure property document according to claim 11 wherein said adhesive comprises a copolymer of monomers selected from the group consisting of lower alkyl acrylates and lower alkyl methacrylates.
- 13. A secure property document according to claim 11 wherein said adhesive is a copolymer of butyl acrylate, methyl methacrylate and butyl methacrylate.
- 14. A process for producing a secure property device which comprises applying to a magnetic tape a matte finish coating comprising a polymeric coating deposited from a dispersion in a non-aqueous continuous phase of a member selected from the group consisting of polymers of lower alkyl acrylates and lower alkyl methacrylates, and depositing at least one radiant energy reflecting element upon said matte finish coating.
- 15. A process according to claim 14 wherein said continuous phase is an organic liquid having a hydrogen bonding index, .delta., greater than 10, a dipole moment, .mu., between 0.5 and 2.5 and a solubility parameter, .gamma., less than 8.
- 16. A process according to claim 14 wherein said continuous phase is a member selected from the group consisting of diethyl ether and a mixture of about 73 percent di-n-butyl ether and 27 percent ethanol.
- 17. A process according to claim 14 wherein said radiant energy reflecting element is a thin metallic film.
- 18. A process according to claim 14 wherein said radiant energy reflecting element is deposited by vapor deposition.
- 19. A process for producing a secure property document which comprises providing a secure property device by applying to a magnetic tape a matte finish coating comprising a polymeric coating deposited from a dispersion in a non-aqueous continuous phase of a member selected from the group consisting of polymers of lower alkyl acrylates and lower alkyl methacrylates, depositing at least one radiant energy reflecting element upon said matte finish coating and adhering said radiant energy reflecting element to a substrate.
- 20. A process according to claim 19 wherein said continuous phase is an organic liquid having a hydrogen bonding index, .delta., greater than 10, a dipole moment, .mu., between 0.5 and 2.5 and a solubility parameter, .gamma., less than 8.
- 21. A process according to claim 19 wherein said continuous phase is a member selected from the group consisting of diethyl ether and a mixture of about 73 percent di-n-butyl ether and 27 percent ethanol.
- 22. A process according to claim 19 wherein said radiant energy reflecting element is a thin metallic film.
- 23. A process according to claim 19 wherein said radiant energy reflecting element is deposited by vacuum deposition.
- 24. A process according to claim 19 wherein said substrate comprises polyvinyl chloride.
- 25. A process according to claim 19 wherein said substrate comprises a copolymer of vinyl chloride and vinyl acetate.
- 26. A process according to claim 19 wherein an adhesive is applied to said secure property device prior to adhering same to said substrate.
