Claims
- 1. A security element in a form of a thread or strip, the security element comprising a transparent plastic film having an opaque coating extending over the element with blank areas corresponding to patterns, at least some of the blank areas being present in an edge area of the element and constituting a coding that is machine readable.
- 2. The security element of claim 1, wherein said machine readable coding is a random piece of information.
- 3. The security element of claim 1, wherein the opaque coating is a metal layer.
- 4. A security element in a form of a thread or strip, the security element comprising a transparent plastic film having an opaque coating extending over the element with blank areas corresponding to patterns, and optically effective structures that overlap at least partially with the blank areas.
- 5. The security element of claim 4, wherein the opaque coating has reflecting properties and the optically effective structures include embossed diffraction structures.
- 6. The security element of claim 4, wherein the optically effective structures include volume holograms.
- 7. The security element of claim 4, wherein the opaque coating has reflecting properties and the optically effective structures are reflection patterns corresponding to surfaces inclined at different angles to the document plane.
- 8. The security element of claim 4, wherein the opaque coating is a metal layer.
- 9. A security element in a form of a thread or strip, the security element comprising a transparent plastic film having a coating extending over the element with blank areas corresponding to patterns, said coating having dichroic properties.
- 10. Film material for security elements, comprising a transparent plastic film having an opaque coating with blank areas corresponding to patterns.
- 11. The film of claim 10, wherein the film material further comprises coloring or luminescent substances in areas congruent with the blank areas.
- 12. The film material of claim 10, wherein the film material further comprises optically effective structures at least partly overlapping the blank areas.
- 13. The film material of claim 10, wherein the opaque coating has dichroic properties.
- 14. The film material of claim 10, wherein the opaque coating is a metal layer.
- 15. The film material of claim 12, wherein the optically effective structures include embossed diffraction structures.
- 16. A security document with a security element in a form of a thread or strip, the security element comprising a transparent plastic film having an opaque coating extending over the element with the blank areas corresponding to patterns, at least some of the blank areas being present in an edge area of the element and constituting a coding that is machine readable.
- 17. A security document comprising a security element in a form of a thread or strip, the security element comprising a transparent plastic film having an opaque coating extending over the element with blank areas corresponding to patterns and optically effective structures that overlap at least partly with the blank areas.
- 18. A security document comprising a security element in a form of a thread or strip, the security element comprising a transparent plastic film having a coating extending over the element with blank areas corresponding to patterns, said coating having dichroic properties.
