Claims
- 1. A storage container, comprising:
a lid having a lid panel and an arm extending from the lid panel, the arm including a detent having a first surface parallel to the lid panel and a second surface having a taper extending at least a portion between the first surface and a distal end of the arm; and a base configured to receive a disc, the base having a base panel and a member extending from the base panel, the member having an opening defined by an interior surface having a portion thereof parallel to the base panel, the first surface of the detent engaging the interior surface portion of the member when the storage container is closed.
- 2. The storage container of claim 1 wherein the member comprises an exterior surface opposite the interior surface portion, the second surface of the detent being arranged to slide past the exterior surface of the member to allow the first surface of the detent to engage the interior surface portion of the member when the storage container is being closed.
- 3. The storage container of claim 1 wherein the arm further comprises a rib.
- 4. The storage container of claim 3 wherein the rib is positioned on one surface of the arm, and the detent is positioned on an opposite surface of the arm.
- 5. The storage container of claim 4 wherein the arm further comprises a second rib positioned on the opposite surface of the arm.
- 6. The storage container of claim 1 wherein the base panel further comprises a support coupled to the member.
- 7. The storage container of claim 1 wherein the base further comprises a base wall along a portion of a periphery of the base panel, and the lid further comprises a lid wall along a portion of a periphery of the lid panel, a front portion of the base and lid wall each comprising a recess, the storage container further comprising a tab inserted in and extending between the recesses when the storage container is closed.
- 8. The storage container of claim 7 wherein the tab is flush with the front portion of the base and lid walls when the storage container is closed.
- 9. The storage container of claim 7 wherein the tab comprises first and second configurations, a force required to open the storage container in the first configuration being greater than a force required to open the storage container in the second configuration.
- 10. The storage container of claim 9 wherein the tab comprises an arm, the tab arm extending through the opening of the member and engaging the detent in the second configuration, and not extending through the opening of the member and not engaging the detent in the first configuration.
- 11. The storage container of claim 10 further comprising a break away hinge coupling the tab to the base in the first configuration.
- 12. The storage container of claim 11 wherein the tab further comprises a plurality of projections, the projections engaging the support in the second configuration.
- 13. The storage container of claim 1 wherein the base panel further comprises an annular wall configured to support an outer edge of the disc, the lid having a tab extending parallel to the lid panel, the tab being configured to extend over the annular wall and engage the disc when the storage container is closed.
- 14. The storage container of claim 13 wherein the tab comprises a ridge configured to engage the disc when the storage container is closed.
- 15. The storage container of claim 14 further comprising a hinge panel hinged to the base and lid, the hinge panel having a rib configured to extend over the annular wall and engage the disc when the storage container is closed.
- 16. The storage container of claim 1 wherein the base further comprises a base wall along a portion of a periphery of the base panel, and the lid further comprises a lid wall along a portion of a periphery of the lid panel, the lid wall having opposing side portions each with a lip that extends below an upper edge of the base wall when the storage container is closed.
- 17. The storage container of claim 16 wherein the lips each are concave.
- 18. The storage container of claim 16 wherein the base wall comprises opposing side portions each with an exterior lip and an internal shoulder, the lips of the lid wall each being configured to extend below its respective exterior lip of the base wall and engage its respective interior shoulder when the storage container is closed.
- 19. The storage container of claim 18 wherein the lips of the lid wall are each concave and the interior shoulders of the base wall are each recessed in a manner complimentary to its respective concave lip of the front wall.
- 20. A storage container, comprising:
a lid; a base configured to receive a disc; and means for latching the lid to the base to close the storage container.
- 21. The storage container of claim 20 wherein the base further comprises a base panel and a base wall along a portion of a periphery of the base panel, and the lid further comprises a lid panel and a lid wall along a portion of a periphery of the lid panel, a front portion of the base and lid wall each comprising a recess, the storage container further comprising a tab inserted in and extending between the recesses when the storage container is closed.
- 22. The storage container of claim 21 wherein the tab is flush with the front portion of the base and lid walls when the storage container is closed.
- 23. The storage container of claim 21 wherein the tab comprises first and second configurations, a force required to disengage the latching means to open the storage container in the first configuration being greater than a force required to disengage the latching means to open the storage container in the second configuration.
- 24. The storage container of claim 23 further comprising a break away hinge coupling the tab to the storage container in the first configuration.
- 25. The storage container of claim 24 wherein the tab further comprises a plurality of projections, the projections engaging the support in the second configuration.
- 26. The storage container of claim 25 wherein the tab is arranged in the recesses in a first position in the first configuration and a second position in the second configuration, the first position of the tab having a 180° angular displacement with respect to the second position of the tab.
- 27. The storage container of claim 20 wherein the base comprises a base panel having an annular wall configured to support an outer edge of the disc, and the lid comprises a lid panel having a tab extending parallel to the lid panel, the tab being configured to extend over the annular wall and engage the disc when the storage container is closed.
- 28. The storage container of claim 27 wherein the tab comprises a ridge configured to engage the disc when the storage container is closed.
- 29. The storage container of claim 28 further comprising a hinge panel hinged to the base and lid, the hinge panel having a rib configured to extend over the annular wall and engage the disc when the storage container is closed.
- 30. The storage container of claim 20 wherein the base comprises a base panel and a base wall along a portion of a periphery of the base panel, and the lid comprises a lid panel and a lid wall along a portion of a periphery of the lid panel, the lid wall having opposing side portions each with a lip that extends below an upper edge of the base wall when the storage container is closed.
- 31. The storage container of claim 30 wherein the lips each are concave.
- 32. The storage container of claim 31 wherein the base wall comprises opposing side portions each with an exterior lip and an internal shoulder, the lips of the lid wall each being configured to extend below its respective exterior lip of the base wall and engage its respective interior shoulder when the storage container is closed.
- 33. The storage container of claim 32 wherein the lips of the lid wall are each concave and the interior shoulders of the base wall are each recessed in a manner complimentary to its respective concave lip of the front wall.
- 34. A storage container, comprising:
a lid; a base having an annular wall configured to support an outer periphery of a disc; means for latching the lid to the base to close the storage container; means for clamping the outer periphery of the disc to the annular wall when the storage container is closed; and means, coupled to the lid, for preventing the disc from sliding out of the storage container.
- 35. The storage container of claim 34 wherein a force is required to disengage the latching means to open the storage container, the storage container further comprising means for reducing the force required to disengage the latching means to open the storage container.
