Claims
- 1. An isolated promoter that is capable of driving transcription in a seed-preferred manner, wherein the promoter comprises a nucleotide sequence selected from the group consisting of:
a) a sequence comprising a fragment of the nucleotide sequence set forth in SEQ ID NO:4; and b) the nucleotide sequence set forth in SEQ ID NO:4.
- 2. The isolated promoter of claim 1 that is capable of driving transcription in a seed-preferred manner, wherein the promoter comprises a fragment of the nucleotide sequence set forth in SEQ ID NO:4.
- 3. The isolated promoter of claim 1 that is capable of driving transcription in a seed-preferred manner, wherein the promoter comprises a nucleotide sequence set forth in SEQ ID NO:4.
- 4. An expression cassette comprising a promoter and a nucleotide sequence operably linked to the promoter, wherein the promoter is capable of initiating seed-preferred transcription of the nucleotide sequence in a plant cell, wherein the promoter comprises a nucleotide sequence selected from the group consisting of:
a) a sequence comprising a fragment of the nucleotide sequence set forth in SEQ ID NO:4; and b) the nucleotide sequence set forth in SEQ ID NO:4.
- 5. The expression cassette of claim 4 wherein the promoter comprises a fragment of the nucleotide sequence set forth in SEQ ID NO:4.
- 6. The expression cassette of claim 4 wherein the promoter comprises the nucleotide sequence set forth in SEQ ID NO:4.
- 7. A plant stably transformed with an expression cassette comprising a maize promoter and a nucleotide sequence operably linked to the promoter, wherein the promoter is capable of initiating seed-preferred transcription of the nucleotide sequence in a plant cell, wherein the promoter comprises a nucleotide sequence selected from the group consisting of:
a) a sequence comprising a fragment of the nucleotide sequence set forth in SEQ ID NO:4; and b) the nucleotide sequence set forth in SEQ ID NO:4.
- 8. The plant of claim 7 wherein the promoter comprises fragment of the nucleotide sequence set forth in SEQ ID NO:4.
- 9. The plant of claim 7 wherein the promoter comprises the nucleotide sequence set forth in SEQ ID NO:4.
