Claims
- 1. A seismic restraint apparatus for limiting the movement of a machine foundation with respect to a substructure in response to a seismic event, comprising:
an anchor plate connectable to said substructure; and at least one restraint connected to said anchor plate and engageable with said machine foundation for limiting the movement of said machine foundation and distributing a corresponding load from said movement of said machine foundation to said substructure.
- 2. The seismic restraint apparatus stated in claim 1, further comprising:
at least one horizontal restraint connected to said anchor plate and engageable with said machine foundation for limiting the horizontal movement of said machine foundation and distributing a horizontal load from said machine foundation to said substructure; and at least one vertical restraint connected to said anchor plate and connectable to said substructure, and said at least one vertical restraint engageable with said machine foundation for limiting the vertical movement of said machine foundation and distributing a vertical load from said machine foundation to said substructure.
- 3. The seismic restraint apparatus stated in claim 2, wherein said at least one horizontal support further comprises:
a restraint block connected to said anchor plate; at least one spacer connected to said restraint block and extending from said anchor plate toward said machine foundation; and a stop rail connected to said at least one spacer, and said stop rail extending from said anchor plate toward said machine foundation.
- 4. The seismic restraint apparatus stated in claim 3, further comprising:
said at least one spacer adjustable with respect to said restraint block and said stop rail to adjust the relative position between said stop rail and said restraint block.
- 5. The seismic restraint apparatus stated in claim 2, wherein said at least one vertical support further comprises:
a cylindrical member connected to said anchor plate; and at least one stop plate connected to said cylindrical member and engageable with said machine foundation for limiting the vertical movement of said machine foundation and distributing said vertical load from said machine foundation to said substructure.
- 6. The seismic restraint apparatus stated in claim 5, further comprising:
said at least one stop plate adjustably connected to said cylindrical member.
- 7. The seismic restraint apparatus stated in claim 1, further comprising:
at least one anchor bolt extending through said anchor plate and engageable with said substructure.
- 8. A seismic restraint apparatus for limiting the movement of a machine foundation with respect to a substructure in response to a seismic event, comprising:
an anchor plate connectable to said substructure; at least one restraint block connected to said anchor plate; at least one stop rail coupled to said restraint block and engageable with said machine foundation for limiting horizontal movement of said machine foundation and distributing a horizontal load from said machine foundation to said substructure; at least one cylindrical member connected to said anchor plate; and at least one stop plate connected to said cylindrical member and engageable with said machine foundation for limiting the vertical movement of said machine foundation and distributing a vertical load from said machine foundation to said substructure.
- 9. The seismic restraint apparatus stated in claim 8, further comprising:
at least one anchor bolt extending through said anchor plate and engageable with said substructure.
- 10. The seismic restraint apparatus stated in claim 8, further comprising:
at least one spacer coupled to said restraint block and said stop rail for spacing said stop rail from said anchor plate toward said machine foundation.
- 11. The seismic restraint apparatus stated in claim 10, wherein said at least one spacer further comprises:
a threaded fastener for adjustably connecting said stop rail to said restraint block.
- 12. The seismic restraint apparatus stated in claim 10, said at least one spacer further comprising:
a dowel rod.
- 13. The seismic restraint apparatus stated in claim 8, further comprising:
said cylindrical member extending through said anchor plate and engageable with said substructure; and said at least one stop plate adjustably connected to said cylindrical member.
- 14. The seismic restraint apparatus stated in claim 13, further comprising:
a pair of stop plates adjustably spaced along a longitudinal axis of said cylindrical member, and said pair of stop plates adjustably positionable on opposite sides of an anchor ring wherein said anchor ring is engageable with said machine foundation, and said pair of stop plates engageable with said anchor ring to limit the vertical movement of said machine foundation.
- 15. A seismic restraint apparatus for limiting the movement of a machine foundation with respect to a substructure in response to a seismic event, comprising:
an anchor plate connected to said substructure; at least one restraint block connected to said anchor plate; at least one spacer connected to said restraint block and extending outwardly from said anchor plate toward a machine foundation; at least one stop rail connected to said at least one spacer, and said stop rail extending outwardly from said anchor plate toward said machine foundation, and said stop rail engageable with said machine foundation for limiting horizontal movement of said machine foundation; at least one cylindrical member connected to and through said anchor plate and engageable with said substructure; and at least one stop plate adjustably connected to said cylindrical member and engageable with said machine foundation for limiting the vertical movement of said machine foundation and distributing a vertical load from said machine foundation to said substructure.
- 16. The seismic restraint apparatus stated in claim 15, further comprising:
at least one anchor bolt extending through said anchor plate and engageable with said substructure.
- 17. The seismic restraint apparatus stated in claim 15, wherein said at least one spacer further comprises:
a threaded fastener for adjustably connecting said stop rail to said restraint block.
- 18. The seismic restraint apparatus stated in claim 17, wherein said at least one spacer further comprises:
a dowel rod.
- 19. The seismic restraint apparatus stated in claim 15, further comprising:
a pair of stop plates adjustably spaced along a longitudinal axis of said cylindrical member, and said pair of stop plates adjustably positionable on opposite sides of an anchor ring wherein said anchor ring is engageable with said machine foundation, and said pair of stop plates engageable with said anchor ring to limit vertical movement of said machine foundation.
- 20. The seismic restraint apparatus stated in claim 15, further comprising:
an elastomeric material connected to at least one stop rail and engageable with said machine foundation.
