Claims
- 1. A method for selectively notifying a customer of a biller of the availability of electronic bill presentment of bills of the biller, comprising:
receiving biller information identifying a plurality of customers of a biller; accessing stored electronic commerce service provider information based upon the received biller information; determining, based upon the accessed information, that at least a first one of a plurality of customers of the electronic commerce service provider is eligible to receive electronic presentment of bills of the biller; and transmitting, based upon the determination, a notice to the first customer including information that the first customer is eligible for electronic presentment of bills of the biller.
- 2. The method of claim 1, wherein:
the accessed electronic commerce service provider information includes information associated with payments completed on behalf of the plurality of customers of the electronic commerce service provider; and the information associated with the plurality of completed payments includes at least one of information identifying a payee of each payment and information identifying an account number issued by a payee of each payment.
- 3. The method of claim 1, wherein the accessed electronic commerce service provider information includes information identifying payees that at least one of the plurality of customers of the service provider intends to pay.
- 4. The method of claim 1, wherein the accessed electronic commerce service provider information is a subscriber database including information identifying the plurality of electronic commerce service provider customers.
- 5. The method of claim 1, wherein the biller information includes at least one account number issued by the biller to one of the plurality of biller customers and includes demographic information associated with at least one of the plurality of biller customers.
- 6. The method of claim 1, wherein the biller information includes at least one bill of the biller available for electronic presentment.
- 7. The method of claim 1, wherein the biller information is first biller information and the biller is a first biller, and further comprising:
receiving second biller information identifying a plurality of customers of a second biller; accessing the electronic commerce service provider information based upon the received second biller information; determining that at least a second of the customers of the electronic commerce service provider is eligible to receive electronic presentment of bills of the second biller based upon the accessing of the electronic commerce service provider information responsive to receipt of the second biller information; and transmitting, based upon determining that the second customer is eligible to receive electronic presentment of bills of the second biller, a notice to the second customer that the second customer is eligible for receipt of electronic presentment of bills of the second biller.
- 8. The method of claim 1, wherein the transmitted notice includes a bill of the biller for the first customer, the first customer not having requested to electronically receive bills of the biller.
- 9. The method of claim 1, wherein the notice is transmitted by one of the electronic commerce service provider and the biller.
- 10. The method of claim 1, wherein:
the notice is structured according to a message template determined by the biller; and the notice is transmitted by the electronic commerce service provider.
- 11. The method of claim 1, wherein:
the transmitted notice includes one of a first selectable Hyper-link for declining electronic bill presentment of bills of the biller and a second selectable Hyper-link for activating electronic bill presentment of bills of the biller; and if the selectable Hyper-link is the first selectable Hyper-link, electronic bill presentment of bills of the biller for the first customer is activated unless the first selectable Hyper-link is selected.
- 12. The method of claim 1, wherein the notice is transmitted by the electronic commerce service provider to only those of the plurality of customers of the electronic commerce service provider determined to be eligible to receive electronic presentment of bills of the biller that are associated with a demographic criteria determined by the biller and at a time determined by the biller.
- 13. A system for selectively noticing a customer of a biller of the availability of electronic bill presentment of bills of the biller, comprising:
a memory configured to store information associated with services of an electronic commerce service provider; a communications interface configured to receive biller information identifying a plurality of customers of a biller; and a processor configured to access the stored electronic commerce service provider information responsive to receipt of the biller information, to determine, based upon the accessed information, that at least a first one of a plurality of customers of the electronic commerce service provider is eligible to receive electronic presentment of bills of the biller, and to cause, based upon the determination, a notice to be transmitted to the first customer including information that the first customer is eligible for electronic presentment of bills of the biller.
- 14. The system of claim 13, wherein:
the accessed electronic commerce service provider information includes information associated with a plurality of payments completed on behalf of the plurality of customers of the service provider; and the information associated with the plurality of completed payments includes at least one of information identifying a payee of each payment and information identifying an account number issued by a payee of each payment.
- 15. The system of claim 13, wherein the accessed electronic commerce service provider information includes information identifying payees that at least one of the plurality of customers of the service provider intends to pay.
- 16. The system of claim 13, wherein the accessed electronic commerce service provider information is a subscriber database including information identifying the plurality of electronic commerce service provider customers.
- 17. The system of claim 13, wherein the biller information includes at least one account number issued by the biller to one of the plurality of biller customers and includes demographic information associated with at least one of the plurality of biller customers.
- 18. The system of claim 13, wherein the biller information includes at least one bill issued by the biller available for electronic presentment.
- 19. The system of claim 13, wherein:
the biller is a first biller; the biller information is first biller information; the communications interface is further configured to receive second biller information identifying a plurality of customers of a second biller; the processor is further configured to access the stored electronic commerce service provider information responsive to receipt of the second biller information, to determine, based upon the accessed information responsive to receipt of the second biller information, that at least a second one of the customers of the payment service provider is eligible to receive electronic presentment of bills of the second biller, and to cause the communications interface to transmit a notice to the second customer that the second customer can receive electronic presentment of bills of the second biller based upon the determination that the second customer is eligible for receipt of electronic bills of the second biller..
- 20. The system of claim 13, wherein the transmitted notice includes a bill of the biller for the first customer, the first customer not having requested to electronically receive bills of the biller.
- 21. The system of claim 13, wherein the notice is transmitted by one of the electronic commerce service provider and the biller.
- 22. The system of claim 13, wherein:
the communications interface is further configured to transmit the notice; the memory is further configured to store a message template determined by the second biller; and the processor is further configured to structure the notice according to the stored message template and to cause the communications interface to transmit the notice.
- 23. The system of claim 13, wherein:
the transmitted notice includes one of a first selectable Hyper-link for declining electronic bill presentation of bills of the biller and a second selectable Hyper-link for activating electronic bill presentment of bills of the biller; and if the selectable Hyper-link is the first selectable Hyper-link, electronic bill presentation of bills of the biller for first customer is activated unless the first selectable Hyper-link is selected.
- 24. The system of claim 13, wherein the notice is transmitted by the communications interface to only those of the plurality of customers of the electronic commerce service provider determined to be eligible to receive electronic presentment of bills of the biller that are associated with a demographic criteria determined by the biller and at a time determined by the biller.
