Claims
- 1. A spherical particle which comprises a hydroxide or a hydrous oxide of a rare earth element supported on a porous carrier made of a hydrophilic organic polymer, the amount of the hydrophilic organic polymer being 5% by weight to about 50% by weight of the hydroxide or the hydrous oxide of the rare earth element.
- 2. The spherical particle of claim 1 having a porosity of 0.5 to 0.85 and an average particle diameter of 0.1 mm to 5 mm.
- 3. The spherical particle of claim 1, wherein the rare earth element is at least one metal selected from the group consisting of Y, La, Ce, Pr, Nd, Pm, Sm, Eu, Gd, Tb, Dy, Ho, Er, Tm, Yb and Lu.
- 4. The spherical particle of claim 3, wherein the rare earth element is Ce.
- 5. The spherical particle of claim 3, wherein the rare earth element is La.
- 6. The spherical particle of claim 1, wherein the hydrophilic polymer is selected from the group consisting of polyacrylonitrile, polyamide, cellulose resin, polysulfone and vinyl chloride-vinylalcohol copolymer.
